I does has me an S62!

I picked this up the other day. i thought i would make a thread and gloat just a little. the odometer while still in the car showed 82,000 miles. i spun it over a couple times. it spins nice and free but has some mean compression.

The plan for this engine is its going to be slated for my alpina m3 cabrio project. It will replace the low mile s52 presently in the car now. shameless plug: i have the s52 listed in the parts for sale section if you are looking for one.

i'm pretty stoked about the thought of 400+hp. i'm going to need to start collecting lots of parts. transmission, manifolds, mounts, software modification.....so much research to do...

the aluminum flywheel was a nice touch.

Awesome. I love the s62, in an e30 it would be an absolute monster. My next big project will, without a doubt, be an s62 e34 m5.

This thread will probably be ruined with LS comments though. Yes it's an option, but some people aren't into dyno queens or horsepowerz per dollar figures. To me, a 5.0L V8 that makes 400hp and has ITB's is pretty damn cool. I like LS motors, but everyone and their friend who's "building a drift car" is doing an LS swapped something or other...

An Ls is not in any way, shape, or form, a dyno queen.

That said, as someone who has gone the v8 route, for an e30 I'll keep my straight sixs. I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but I really missed the M20 once a 5.0 was in it's place.
