I feel the same way about turbo Dodges, though never owned one. The import crowd doesn't give these things enough credit for starting to popularize the performance turbo 4 cylinder in America. The CSX-VNT, Omni GLH-S and Spirit R/T are particularly noteworthy for their technical innovation and power outputs. CSX-VNT was both the first production car with a variable nozzle turbo and with composite wheels, by many years on each.


+1 for the XR4Ti. Watched a REALLY dope one rock a dyno recently.

For me, it is the older VS generation Commodore Ute.

The cars are actually pretty decent but unfortunately being so cheap and abundant in Australia means they're the white trash car of choice. Way too many Commodores are auto V6's sporting chevie bow ties, and 20x5 chromies.

The practical nature of a ute is something I need and I've always really liked the shape of the VS model utes. They have an abundance of cheap performance/tuning options due to being a domestic vehicle sold in large volume and can make pretty reasonable cars for any kind of use when set up right. Base models came with the Buick Series 2 3800 V6(Holden Ecotec) which take to a turbo quite well, and the performance models were fitted with Holden 5.0 V8's. Lots of engine mount kits available from LS1 to 2JZ to RB25.

Yes, I've just bought one. Might even throw a build thread up when I decide to do something with it.

The first couple years of the Fox body Mustangs.

Owned a Grey on Black '79 Fastback when I was younger. It was the first Turbo 4 cylinder setup (draw through carb setup) and just looked cool as phuck. Traded it for a 486 PC. Yeah, I wish I still had it..

Besides that, I will always hold a special place in my shoebox Nova's/Chevy II's. Especially the wagons. I've owned almost every body style except a vert (4dr, 2dr post, 2dr hardtop, wagon.) Wish I had ALL of those still.

But probably the guiltiest of all guilties - I really some day want to find a Brown, 1979 Datsun 210 Hatchback.

It was one of the first cars my dad had when I was little (after a dreadful green Duster) and we drove it till the wheels fell off. Then sold it some other guy who drove it even further in to the ground. It wasn't fast, it wasn't comfortable, but I probably traveled more of the west coast and Oregon in that car then anything else..

Solstice Coupe GXP. Great styling, very healthy 240hp turbo 4-banger. Never got much love though (and were only produced for like 1-2 years before Pontiac was KO'd)



Along those same lines, Saturn Sky Redline. Same engine/chassis, but with the styling of a miniature C6 Vette.

I wouldn't be as extreme, but a mild static drop with decent wheels on the AWD model. Mmmmmmm. Too bad my wife can't stand them, since she'll be driving it most.


I've also always wanted a 2nd gen DSM, preferably the GSX. Dunno, I would even consider trading my S4 for the right car. So sexy, and the possibilities, oh the possibilities.

ftfy. Honda has made one performance motor in the last 20 years. They're good econo-cars, but not much else.
