Like Toby said, they are around the PNW, but as has also been noted - they usually ended up going to peoples daughters as commuters/collage cars. So they ended up not being taken care of. For a while, I had been thinking about picking one up and doing a 6 cylinder swap.
If you're coming from an E30, it's actually not that bad since the rear half of the car will look REALLY familiar to you, and the front gives you the benefit of newer technology/motor options.
While, yes, you could get an M coupe - if you got little ones or a big arse dog, the ti is an easier option to live with. Plus, body panels for E36 is a bit easier to find/replace over an E36/71991 325i MT2 Touring (JDM bro)

I loved my ti. If I were in the market for a cheap beater I'd be all over one. There was one that sat on CL for a while locally, ended up selling somewhere around $1200, red on black and was clean, someone got a deal.
If you want a swap and want to spend close to $8 grand there looks to be a sweet s52'd ti in Hampton Roads area of Va. https://norfolk.craigslist.org/cto/5299255815.html2004 BMW e60 525i - Daily

Not really. They're called accidents for a reason.

This is a RWD hatchback that you can drop an LSD into cheaply and easily. That format is almost non-existent in the US. It's a great DD.-Nick

I love mine.
Not enough to go get another, mind you, and if I had the option to get a
$900 non-M coupe, I'd jump at it.
But I don't see that happening....

tnow, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

Most of them came LSD. It is a fantastic dd/hauler, and I get 30ish mpg.

On that note it's easy to eliminate and install a proper lsd in thees with ease plus using E30 rear there are multiple gear ratio's available for the car to suit your needs.

^^^ thats where i am going with my ti, swapping to a lower ratio diff. Mine is just over 4k at 80mph.
I picked up a ti in October as my beater DD so I could stop DDing my E30. Its great, and actually a lot of fun to rev out.
its a '98 base, 5 speed, 110k, that i got from a guy in pa. $2900. it was in decent shape but i put in a fair amount of work into it already though.
whatvs, its a DD that i dont care if it gets side swiped or something. it does that job well.
