And what I find amusing is that a number of people replying to this thread giving advice about a 325ix have probably never driven an ix. That said I've done up an e46 and an e91 325xit and got them both to be pretty fun, so I don't think awd is necessarily a detriment.

This thread is mainly to poke fun at the fact that a 200k+ mile Miata has ruined my perception of what I consider a fun vehicle. I never once mentioned I wanted my e30 to drive like Miata.

    Edit:
Modified a sport seat to fit with a helmet

He made a thread for help making this decision after 20 e30s, after 20 of them one would know that an ix is never going to give you anything like the experience a Miata gives so... how is anything but the existence of the thread amusing?

That's not left field, that's a foul ball. If he's tall enough that a miata needed mods to be comfortable and now he's getting rid of it an british sports car is going to be downright awful. Plus a miata is better in pretty much every way than the british cars it drew inspiration from so there's that.

    (edit)
OP how do you even fit in an E30 at 6'6"? I'm 5'9 and when I have my helmet on I have to lean back or tilt my head. The helmet only adds like 2.5" to my height...

The iX front subframe is completely different and the steering rack passes through it. Subframe has to come out to change the rack.

OP, I agree that comparing pretty much any E30 to a Miata or similar car isn't really fair.

    +1

Life's too short to ignore the other options outside of the e30.

If you loved the miata so much, I would go the s2000 route. I too may consider this being over six feet and owning a mini cooper s and miata. The reason I haven't went the s2000 route is the price compared to the miata. I honestly can't justify the cost over the miata. Fitting in one is it's greatest asset for my size and that's it.

ix is the wrong E30 if you want a nimble one. It's the heaviest and most understeer prone. If you want a nimble E30 get a 318is and put it on coilovers.
