    2002

1973 bmw 2002. Have been talking to Ryan on here about trying to buy one of his. I hit him up after finding out he found 3 roundies praying one would be for sale. This orange 73 he found, would be the one for sale. Been talking to him for a few days about trying to pick it up. Salvage title and has a pretty good pushed in rear end but nothing that couldn't be fixed in my eyes. Overall the car seems to be legit, has been resprayed but who cares when your having fun driving it right? Needs some new floors pans and some interior pieces to bring the inside back to life. I've been wanting a project for a while now and specifically an 02 for a long time. I'm really hoping to make this happen soon as possible. I could sure use an 02 in my life as I'm sure many of you can as well! Wish me luck trying to conquer this orange roundie!! Here's a few pictures of it that Ryan sent over to me.

yeah but you forgot to mention that it's totally dialed in on the suspension front. Full IE Stage 2 kit with swaybars and SS exhaust. The engine is a NOS tii engine with a standard e12 head. The tii head will be included as well. The 38/38 carb makes this car fly. It's a good car. I'm sure I have the bumpers and door cards for it too.

Believe me when I say that I wouldn't have purchased it if I didn't believe in it.

Here are two more photos. I'm going to get that rear end straightened out in no time.

Me too. But I need another thing on my to-do list like I need a hole in my head.

I brought this car to my Costa Mesa shop and started banging out that rear end with a hydraulic jack and minimal rubber mallet use. Not perfect, but definitely better now.

              From this:

              to this:

before: (notice how the trunk is held closed by a wire)

after: (closes perfection, but still considerably bent)

still very dirty, but she'll clean up.

              Bonus:
I took Brad for a test drive through Newport Beach and while on the 55 heading back to the shop, a brand new Orange McLaren P1 pulled up along side, matched our speed, gave us the thumbs up while looking deep into my eyes, as if approving the dating of his multiple daughters. Then as soon as he appeared, he blipped the throttle, downshifted, and did a quick but monstrous pull away from me. Immediately after, I see a VW Passat with two guys behind the P1 pull up next to me, still filming the whole orange spectacle on their smartphones. They also gave me the thumbs. It was a neat experience considering we were the only two orange cars on the road, and we stood out like a young boy in the General Population section of a prison full of child molesters.

This car pulls hard. And it's originally Inka. It desperately needs a wash, but idk, it's cool.

              I'm so conflicted.

Nice quick fix. I had a similar (but not so extreme) experience from a PO's accident with a sledge hammer and a 2x4 on my '02. That's what makes these cars great. You look around your garage and figure something out.

Definitely DDable now. Throw a bumper on there and the damage will look a lot better.

I'm thinking about throwing a shorty chrome bumper and maybe a matching front and running it with the early, knee-trimless look. But then I'm thinking that it needs to go back to Inka Orange and getting the rear straightened out and floor pans welded up and giving it the same treatment as the green car.

But then I'm also thinking that I want to see what Brad can do with it. I have a few more roundies on the way aside from the previous ones I just purchased.

I swear I'm not trying to start a business and sell these things, but I also understand that this habit is turning borderline insane.

tii engine is fuel injected. if your not getting the kugelfischer pump then it wont be a good deal. check the rockers, and frame rails. new brake master cylinder probably means the old one rusted out the driver side frame rail. A new rear clip is available from walloth and nesch but not cheap.
                        Nice seats tho.

Looking at the nose, radiator and the heavy modifications I'll bet this car spent some time with a M20 in it.

I bought the car earlier this week and have been enjoying it. it is not a tii and is not fuel injected. has a tii block and e12 head like ryan mentioned up above. also has a weber 38/38 carb. it runs pretty good but will be doing some things to it in the future. all panels have checked out so far with rust, pretty surprised with that actually. both front floor pans need to be replaced due to rust and the rear clip will eventually be replaced or repaired correctly. car is originally inka and will make it back to that soon. cool to have someone like ryan help me along the way. as far as we know, it hasn't had a m20 in it but was prepped to do a swap like that in its future. will try to post some things I've done and will be doing to it shortly, also of it cleaned up after I brought it home and gave it a good wash and wax job. the wheels on it are from a lancia, but I will be giving those back to ryan and putting some stock ones on for now.
