    Whew! Saved by my e30

Not saved in the eternal life sense, saved from a highway patrol ticket. I was headed back from a meeting today and took an on-ramp I know to be uninhabited, usually. So there really isn't any need for stop signs. Clear visibility in all directions, bright sunny dry road (I live in a flat desert) so why not make the stop signs optional and test my H&R sport springs. Normally an ok thought, today not so much. Motorcycle cop was waiting there. Apparently I'm not the only one that enjoys this section of road.

He just shakes his head, signals me to pull over and asks, "What are you doing?" Yea yea really embarrassing no reason to do that. He said he was writing up some notes on someone else, saw my car and wanted a reason to pull me over since he loves e30s so much. I gave him the reason He spent 5 years in the army in Germany and had an e36, wish he had known about e30s at the time. He knew everything about the car, Didn't tell him anything and he rattled off the year and the is trim from the plastic bumpers and sport seats. He's driving a BMW motorcycle. Great guy. End of the story, no ticket and keep that car safe :tsk: (not me the car).

Keep your e30 looking good, admit to your wrong doings, and don't be stupid like me

Did you drift between two cars just before the intersection? That would have been sick breh.

That said, I had a similar experience in my Mom's (yes Mom's) 68 Firebird. I rebuilt the carb, and as payment she let me take the Mrs. Out on a date in it. The car is 100% restored, immaculate.

Anywho, a Cop was blocking an intersection and ended up BSing with us for about 20 minutes while the accident cleared.

Contrary to popular belief, Police are just normal people. If you don't do something to force their hand, they are usually pretty cool to talk to.

I had a cop pull up next to me in a Sonic while I was eating and we chatted for a bit about cars. Came up because his dad had an old BMW like mine and wanted to ask how much they run and how much they cost to keep going. Little questions like that. Pretty cool.

Cops are definitely down to earth people when they're not on the job. Some just take it more seriously than others.

I when had a 1997 m3 4 door (divorce) i got pulled over for doing 85 mph on the 60 fwy out here. Got pulled over by the coolest chip bike cop . He offered me to right him a ticket and admitted to speeding sometimes....anyways he was talking and my 6 year old rolls down the rear window to say hi to him and he said. Let me ask you daughter a question.... and i thought oh shit here we go. He asked ......do you think i should give you daddy a ticket today? my daughter replied oh yeah.....he said why? She said because he speeds all the time and he also ( i rolled up the window at that point) he started laughing and he let me go with a warning. lol

Ahahahahaha This almost had me in tears. My daughter said something similar to some police at a carnival we have every year!

I did a short stint with Dinan back in 2006 as a regional sales manager. I flew to Toronto to pick up a Dinan 545i. Yeah, it was a Steptronic, but decked out with all Dinan options and black/black. I made it nearly all the way back to NJ but got pulled over by a PA state trooper clocked at 95 in a 65. I begged him to be considerate, told him my license was clean and that I do this for a living, pointing to the Dinan pin on my shirt. He said, "What? You mean you SPEED for a living?". He comes back 10 minutes later with a piece of white plain paper with instructions. It had the name and address of a judge. "Make sure you send the check for $125 out as soon as you get home. Have your information" . I said thanks and he let me go.

I feel like cops treat you differently with age. Actually, I know they do. I have always tried my hardest to project myself as an honest individual, but some cops are just plain douche bags. I'd say that about 90 percent of cops are cool guys, but that 10 percent really throws a wrench in everything. Like that saying goes, "one bad apple spoils the bunch".

Yes over 30. and explained to my passenger when she asked how I did that, that if I was a punk kid there would be no way he'd have let me go.

It also help that my passenger was a smoking hot chick. (no pics)
