    My e30 has r3v'd her last ;(

-First, a moment of silence please for the e30... ;)

... thank you ... last night (20 Jul 06) I was driving home from work and I fell asleep at the wheel (I think, you see I don't accually remember) on a down-hill decreasing-radius left-hander. I must have half-awoken, paniced and over-corrected... eh long story short I rolled the car end-over-end at least three times. The car landed on it left side, and luckily my sunroof was open so I crawled out there.

-I called my father, who picked me up and took me to the doctor, and I'm very pleased to say that I have NO injuries. I mean, my neck and shoulders are quite sore but, I'm really very lucky. When we returned home, there was a police man waiting. Filled out an accedent report, and got a ticket (more on that later)!

    -OK, moral-of-the-story time:
    1) For Pete's sake, don't drive too fast on little windy roads. If you MUST (and I understand!), please pay 100% attention. I didn't.
    2) Kudos to BMW for building a fine, safe machine such as the e30. I'm convenced that if I was driving a lesser car, I would be dead or seriously injured, which brings me to...
    3) Wear you seatbelt anytime you wreck a car! But since you never know, wear it all the time! I was wearing mine and it too saved my life.

-OK, down to buiness, the car is (was?) a five-speed 1988 325 coupe (super-eta). The trunk was smashed WAY in, in fact it crushed the battery, which was leaking acid-water. At first I thought it was gas spilling onto the hot exhaust so I ran! The front of the oil pan was either knocked off by the impact or just dented in and knocked off by the crank... but either way it's very strange to see your oil pump laying in a field! The left rear suspention was torn apart, so that half-shaft was also thrown out. Amazingly, this morning when a local towing service rolled the car back over, both doors could be easisly opened!

-I AM parting the car out, so make offers via PM. The engine, minus oil pump/pan are good, as is the tranny, and my 4.10 LSD maybe. Don't try to low-ball me eather, cuz I don't have collision and am taking a total loss on the car! The pistons I know are valuable... so any offers? If no, then I'm keeping them for my next e30. I will get another one!

-Sorry, long post, but a long story!
-Am I glad to be alive

        -Me too, dude, thanks!

-About the pistons... let me figure out the details with the wrecker and the junk yard, but make offers please via PM.

-Oh yeah, about the ticket. I got a ticket for 'Failing to Report' the wreck. It never crossed my mind to call the police unless others were involved! But, for everyone in NC, call the police if: there is ANY injury of the cost of the wreck exceeds $1000!

I agree....I think its a first on this board too.

You mentioned your sunroof was opened which allowed you to crawl out. I'm assuming you were belted in because if you weren't you probably wouldn't be posting this thread. Glad to hear you made it out injury-free. A shame the car is mashed up.

Good luck with parting it out and getting your life back in order.

Times 2. Amazing what these cars can handle, well atleast the most important part, the driver area.

-Thanks for the kind words fellas...
-Yes, I had my seatbelt on, which I'm sure saved my life!

-asubimmer... it happened in Pfafftown, on Spicewood, between Yadkinville and Olivit Church, but closer to Olivit. The car has been towed to Connie's on 67.

Congrats on coming out of the ordeal with your health.

I fell asleep at the wheel once in my moms volvo, woke up doing 90 in the median on 95 near Newburyport. One of the scariest moments of my life.

When bendashdash and I drove to Cali, there were many times that I fell asleep for a split second and was awoken by those things on the side of the highways that are supposed to wake you up. Eventually I just made Ben drive because driving just makes me tired.
