Unrelated to 4-bangers but similar era Toyota product with 3MZ-FE (2006 Toyota Sienna). Oil consumption completely stopped after switching to Rotella T6 5w40 from standard dino 5w30 as recommended by Toyota. I suspect the native design flaw is compounded by "big vehicle, little motor" syndrome and the standard spec oil is not up to the task after shearing down due to heat. A friend in college had a early 90's 4 cylinder Camry that would drink more oil than we could beer, switched to a HD diesel oil and away it went for many more years of faithful albeit boring service. That car did not see an easy life.

          Keep it slideways!!

There was no check engine light. Thanks.
Also, to anyone who cares. The oil was gelling which is why it was not registering on the dipstick. The "oil" was burning at a much faster rate because of this problem. Took the car into Toyota today and was fully covered under oil consumption TSB 0158-14 and the oil gelling. They're going to put in a a fresh engine with pistons that wont have clogged oil passages. Thanks for the hazing guys and thank you to everyone who was trying to help. I really appreciate it.

that was my old 77 Rabbits motor. Freaking thing blew out crossing the 520 bridge in Seattle, the noise got really bad just as I got unto the bridge, so I floored it to pick up momentum. A few seconds later BOOOM!... and eventually had to get out and push it to the last off to the side, but I made it across and didnt cause a horrible traffic jam.

That is basically what happened with my moms camry. She was driving up onto a freeway over pass and it started knocking it lost all power so she tried to give it some gas and the thing blew up. Hahah cars are funny and so is my mom.
