To correctly check a dipstick, you have to check when the car is cold or near that. It won't be accurate if you check right after you just drove it. I'm just saying. Also, I grew up around toyota and they are a tank. A Toyota camry is more reliable than anything bmw ever built.

Right!! I cant but feel like we got screwed by Toyota. So many people havent got their letters about including us. This may have never happened if we did.
And really? I was always under the impression that BMW's were strong and fairly long lasting. I mean the #6 con rod blew up in my m20 and there was pieces of it in my head and oil pump but yet there wasnt damage done to anything else other than the corresponding crank journal and con rod jounal.
My cam was in perfect condition.
Thanks for the replies guys!Comment

Hahah i know, you have to wait for the oil to drop back down to the pan.To correctly check a dipstick, you have to check when the car is cold or near that. It won't be accurate if you check right after you just drove it. I'm just saying. Also, I grew up around toyota and they are a tank. A Toyota camry is more reliable than anything bmw ever built.
Thats why i said it was weird even after doing a fresh oil change i would let the car sit a few hours to cool and for all the oil to make it down to oil pan but even then the dipstick showed no sign of oil. I went through that process numerous times and every time it showed that there was no oil. I would pull it out (no oil), wipe it, put it back in, and then pull it back out and still no oil.
Never got any warning of low oil.Comment

I'm offline for 3 hours and this thread turned into a formal, responsible, educated, smooth running, helpful ride? What the hell r3v? Just checked, no full moon, something has to be up though, I'm sensing a disturbance in the force
All in all though, very glad that it turned out the way it did and that you got what you initially asked for. Just in my short time here I've seen many of the "childish and immature" kids threads start like a train wreck and end up no better. Welcome to r3v, some OG's have already acknowledged your presence and I will say, just reading through Exodus' build thread(s) will teach you more than almost anything else in here about how little we really know lmao don't fuck with him though, he knows his shit more than anyone else I've seen in here and I'm honored that he gave me heart earlier <3

I'm not sure about '07 Camry, but in earlier Camry engine, the oil could form a gel if driven more than 7500 miles. I would not be surprised if you open up the engine and find it filled with sludge. Sludge and oil dipstick do not get along well.Comment

...when the car falls through the deck of the boat? How will insurance on your boat fix your mom's car?
hee.
Dissapoint for flame lack.
Agree some toyotas are not living up to the 500,000 mile expectation.
Also have noticed that Camrys tend to have left seat occupants that have unrealistic expectations about how traffic- and sometimes physics- works.
tnow, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george gravesComment
