These M cars are getting way to freaking heavy and bulky. We owned an E34 a few years ago and that car was so much more incredible to drive than the E39 M5, demanding alot control from the driver. Soon enough the damm thing will drive itself. I am not a big fan of the new M5.

The new 5ers weigh considerably less than the E39 5ers, around 2-300lbs IIRC.

no, its actually over 200lbs. The entire suspension is now aluminum. Shave a lot of weight.
Ive driven them. They drive like an E46. The steering box thingy didnt seem to bother me much. The interior was quite lame though. I hate the huge center console with that stupid dial and the fact that the cars interior is not built around the driver anymore.
Screw anyone else, I am the only person who is operating the radio.
the active steering is supposed to work really well.. it works different than older systems (which were either drive by wire or used increased boost). the steering box is all mechanical, it just has a variable ratio.
BTW, I just checked and it's not a 200lb difference. Here's the curb weight of the E39 530i and the E60:
2003 - 3494lbs
2004 - 3472lbs
that's definetly not 200lbs! remember, it's made with lighter components, but it's also a lot larger.
