The huge wealth gap out there is crazy. Rich folks must drop 20k like it's pocket change.
BaT makes the cars accessible nationwide so it's just like buying anything else online.

    2022 List: 221 E30s sold

    Average of E30s, not including M3s $29,401

    Average price, by model:

    M3 (44) = $82,859
    318is (6) = $17,075
    325is (28) = $21,497
    325i (21) = $16,646
    318/ 325e (20) = $14,197
    Convertible (65) = $17,959
    Touring (12) = $16,990
    Swapped (13)= $27,254
    iX (8) = $17,584
    Alpina/ Harge (3) = $84,192
    Other (1) = $115,411

The one 'other' listed above is a S54 swapped M3. Quite an outlier, but still wasnt the highest selling E30 M3!
Bid for the chance to own a S54-Powered 1988 BMW M3 at auction with Bring a Trailer, the home of the best vintage and classic cars online. Lot #69,617.

    Other Interesting notes:
-E30s continue to rise in YoY average price. 2019 AVG was $11,624, doubling to 22,204 in 2020, and averaging 10% YoY since then
-318iS numbers dropped, possibly hinting that the "Bargain" E30 / Baby M3 are either not meeting BaTs criteria or there are less out there...
-The convertibles continue to dominate the sales, likely because they are the least used, least modified of the bunch.
-M3 prices continue to rise (~10% YoY)
-Swapped car sales rose, suggesting they are accepting more, but also likely that there are more cleaner swaps available now.

With all the monopoly money going around it seems like anything and everything has been turned into an investment vehicle - pun intended.

I'm not a huge fan of the e30 m3 body kit either. I'd much rather just have a standard e30 with any one of a dozen engine swaps for pennies on the dollar you'd pay to get an e30 m3 these days.

I still can't believe the kind of money an E30 M3 commands these days.
Is it just collectors snapping them up and parking them as investments?

Seems you could build/buy a 325i to be significantly better then an M3 in every way for less then 1/3rd of the cost.
There are even replica body panels to build a clone if that's your thing.

I like when the same car goes back on BaT and you can check out the previous post. Two years of ownership and he put 1,000 miles on this. $67k in 2020 seems like top of the market but judging from the early bids, it should make it back to that range, if not more.
