Kinda did that when I was driving my E30 home the day I got it. I was pulling out of a rest stop / gas station, shifted, and noticed the shift knob was still in my hand. Oops.

I was going to say this one. My mentor when starting out told me to always leave the nut on 2 threads or so before you start pulling.

I'm sure he knows he probably saved me from having my nose reconstructed with that tip.

Two days later and it's a lot darker, haha. It's not any bigger or swollen, but it definitely is a nice dark mark. It looks like I forgot the other black stripe under my eyes while playing baseball. Nice job I tell myself! Just in time for Vintage.

If it's not healed in time you'll have a fun story to tell everyone.

I didn't physically hurt myself but still just as bad. One time I was attempting to move my passenger seat forward when the little T shaped handle you grab onto shot out of my hand, and shot into my windshield, which resulted in a 6 inch crack. Nice.

I run an e21 shifter in my car, which has a shorter throw than the e30 shifter... the knob is threaded, so no problem ;-)

Worst injury I had working on my cars was with my old e21. Fitting an e28 pusher fan, checking for leaks with it running & off with my thumb! Was stupidly careful while doing the job, mind slipped when pushing myself out from under the car & just heard a nasty crunching noise.

A surgeon managed to put it back on, but there were a few months recovery and permanent ache in my hand for about 3 years... all good now though - that was nearly 14 years ago.
