    Looks so 80's/Delorean-ish
I thought it makes the E30 look more like an early 80's Nissan Maxima.

(which is an on going joke in PRO3..)

Am I alone in this, being of the mind that the e30 was and is perfect just the way it rolled off the assembly floor in Munich. No modifications, as unchanged as possible, thirty years down the road? I wanted one when they were the current model in BMW showrooms, and all over the streets of the town I grew up in. But I was just a kid then, no money, no driver's license, no chance of parking one for a yuppie at the country club I caddied at.

But to answer the OP, and give my opinion on best year and configuration, I'd have to say that I love the steel diving board bumpers on cabriolet's only, they just look so sophisticated that way, I'm a fan of the 1987 model. And plastic bumpers on coupe's, 1989 is my choice for coupe's. Just my 2 cents here. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Kind of looks like a 80s pontiac 6000 too.

89, but any LCI e30 really.

BMW got their body galvanising sorted so they don't rust anything like the earlies.

This trumps pretty much everything else.

I drive my car in the rain without fear. :)

Everytime it rains I feel bad driving my car until I get it repainted because the paint has chipped from rolling the rear fenders
