These are not things that deserve the moniker of salvage title, but the cost for the insurance company to fix it is too close or exceeds their appraised value to the asset = SALVAGE title if you choose to fix it.

If you inspect your used car buy thoroughly, then you should be asking what damage was done to warrant the title, and when did the care receive this moniker. Secondly if you have any idea what you are looking a branded title should not scare in the least after you inspect it. What was meant by a shoddy repair was someone that never turned a issue in to the insurance and hack job repaired it in the back yard, by less than qualified or just plain corner cutting for profit used car sales outfits... If a tree fell on my car and I fixed it myself, it could be very compromised structural or geometrically, and unfit to drive, but look fine and has a clean title, on the other hand I could have something with a branded title, that was involved in a light deer strike. In which a fender headlight and grill was all that was replaced and nothing structural is an issue. In your mind that deer strike is automatically out and you would paying me top dollar for something that once had a 3 foot pine tree laying on the deck lid.......
I'll start off by saying I agree with you. Unfortunately a lot of e30s will have some sort of rebuilt title due to the age, perceived insurance value, and parts NLA. Most other cars will be scrapped, but enthusiasts will save these cars if they can.

The sad part is, the branded title will be used when negotiating a sale against the seller.

IF you are looking to buy with intent to sell down the line then a rebuilt title should be avoided. IF you are looking for a car to enjoy and heavily mod then a branded title might be an option to get a clean chassis.

They are not worthless......they are just WORTH less obviously.

Some are OK with rebuilt titles, some will avoid them. I can't fault both sides since they are well within their reasons to do whatever they want with their money.

Life is good when you do what I do. I worked for it.

      But keep it up.
So, just out of curiosity, what operations do you manage? Based on how fucking dense and offensive to others you've been in this thread I can't imagine anyone would pay you to do anything. And I say this because many/most successful people I've met would never look down on someone cleaning toilets for a living.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

You have yourself mixed up , another member uttured to me if I had toilets to clean, to which I responded in the negative and stated that I do not look down on those that do so for a means of employment.

It's the attention to detail that gets me paid.

I don't need to tell you where I work, who the fuck do you think you are?

Wow, OP...this is a really good way to get to know the people on this forum. Next time, when you have a real problem on your car, don't come around here.

I work for myself now, but when I was an engineer I had a guy just like this. Then at the next company, same shit. I'm convinced every company has THAT guy. We all know who I'm talking about.

I feel like people that mention their tax bracket as bragging rights don't know how it works. hahaha depending on how you file a 100k salary is the same bracket as someone making 15 bucks an hour.

I'm sure you can sell a salvage car for close to if not more than a clean title car depending on how much work you put into it, but a car is a car.

Resale value has never been a really big concern for me. I've always been more concerned about making my car work correctly. Fixing little things here and there and taking it to my specialist when it's too messy of a job for me to do in my driveway. Living in a neighborhood with an HOA sucks lol.

Someone can see my car as a piece of shit with no resale value because of scratches, dents and dings, but it's my piece of shit and I love it to death. Mine doesn't have a salvage title, but I'm sure someone who has an E30 with a salvage title feels similarly.

Also, someone who doesn't understand the difference between real value and perceived value likely isn't managing much more than the secretary.
