                Shown here is a small electric part that conects to the engine wiring harness on 88 and newer(maybe 87) 325i's. What is it's name? And what does it do?

                  The switch is called a "Fuel Tank Breather Valve" and it is used to activate the carbon container ;)

                    Correct, some people also call it an Evaporator purge valve. It kicks on when crsuing so that the engine re-uses some of the unburnt fuel built up in the charcoal canister and shuts off under acceleration. Go at it Trent.
