That must be an east coast thing.

I just picked up an 89 sedan for dirt cheap and I am picking up a running, but damaged, 88 sedan for just a couple hundred this weekend.

Found both through craigslist. Granted, they were both in small towns in BFE, but nothing a drive can't solve.

Meh. Dents aND dings, poorish paint. The interior and motor weren't too bad. It cam on ground control coils as well. It is a cool car for the price I paid.

              Guys,
Why are you pissed about the values going up? I'd be a lot more disturbed if prices were declining, because then I'd be losing money just as a matter of the passage of time. That would suck. Let's admit that if you bought an E30 in the past decade, you made a smart buy, and you probably bought at the bottom of the market.

The current environment of increasing values has helped me justify blowing several grand on finally getting my bodywork straightened and to spray a new paint job. If my '90 325is was sinking in value, I wouldn't spend any more than needed to simply keep it running.

Keep whatever E30 you have, and make it the best example you can.

Because most of us don't look at these and a retirement fund but what was a cheap car that is tons of fun and has a great backing. The only thing i'm liking about the prices going up is its weeding out all the broke cheap kids that thing race lands are a suitable coil over.

Haha too funny you mention Raceland C/O's. When I bought my 93 vert, it had those installed, and they SUCKED. The 1st order of business was to replace that setup with something better.

As for E30 prices, the 2002 guys went thru the same dilemma some time ago, and they found E30's as a cheap alternative. Many of those guys are still not as happy with E30's as they were with their old 2002's, but they cope. As mentioned earlier, though, the E36 is not a good substitute for E30's. E30 guys are at a dead end here.

There are so many examples I could cite, but they have been spelled out throughout numerous threads over the last few months.

I agree with the e36 not being a substitute...I grew up driving one and never liked the body style. I think people will skip a generation and look at e46 ZHP's.

Like how it also trickles down into everything else. MHW tails were 3-400 now they are 1000. Virtually every rare part for these cars has gone up 1-200% in price. And the new parts are going up too. Dash's used to be a like 600 then they went to around 1000 and now NLA and when they come back i bet they are kissing the 1500 mark. Door seals just last year were 270 a side and now are 330 and. They used to be even cheaper then that. And places that build things are raising prices too. For example bimmerheads used to never be that expensive they have taken advantage of the market going up.

I actually think the E36 M3 is one of the best looking cars around. I love sharp body lines, and the M3 really kills it.

Buuuuuut, they suck at just about everything else. Every E36 M3 I have owned was a complete disaster at least once a year.

Honestly wish prices would go up more. $7k for a collector car is pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things.
