    This ever happen to you?

So I'm driving home from work tonight in the old eta, and im on the expressway which technically isnt a highway, but the speed limit is 55 mph. I was running in the right hand lane and I was doing about 55 mph. I noticed a car in the left lane going a bit slower than I was and I started to close in on it.

Well the car turned out to be one of those nissan 2.5rs GTR things. I pass him still going 55mph, and he begins to speed up and matches my speed. I slighly increases to about 60 to see if he really was doing it on purpose, next thing I know, I hear this loud obnoxious exhaust note (automatic kickdown rev) and the guy freaking passes me. I didnt do anything, continued traveling 55mph. I automatically thought, SON OF A B-TCH, what a cheap way to get someone to race you, I had shown no signs of wanting to race that thing.

I was flammed up, do people do that to any of you guys? I mean I would never do such a thing to anyone, that is low. He is probably going to tell all his friends how he smoked an m3 or some bullshit. I hope he does, so when he actually does find an m3, it will tear the shit out of him. I should have reported him to the cops for street racing.

crap like that happens all the time.
ignore them and laugh when you see their car upside down in a ditch a mile down the road.

You have no idea how often people mistake my doing 10-20 faster then everyone else on the highway and weaving as needed as wanting to race them.

      Its annoying.

You should've put your right foot down. Drive that car of yours, man, that is what is was made for. In another few years, his 2.5 GTR or whatever it is, will look old and dated. Your car will still have class. So, enjoy it for what it is. There will always be a faster car, no matter what you are driving. I shut one down a few months ago on a backroad doing up to 115mph. It was a blast. Even if I hadn't beat him, it would have been fun. Kinda like a group drive, only with someone you don't know, and didn't invite. Anyway, remember this: WE drive the ultimate driving machines! Enjoy 'em!

Its fun when you get a nice little high speed cruise with someone cool. I did it with a TT one time.

                .
I can't stand when people travel in the left lane. It pisses me off so much. You should have ran the douchebag off the road.

Hasn't happened to me yet, but that's because the 4 door 87 325 doesn't look very "Fast." I don't care though, my friend's Accord wasn't very quick, kinda funny. ;) If I ever get offers to race, I'll just laugh and take my time accelerating. :P

some waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles in a 4 door bonneville kept trying to race me, i was in my dads 4.6L V8 Thunderbird at the time. I couldnt get through the traffic, but needless to say he was gonna be toast. Riding in my friends mustang, we go rice hunting, its funny coz no one wants to race. I need to modify my car more, no one trys to race my bimmer stock.

Not along the same line as people racing, but still an annoying driver. This happened on the way to work this morning. I was second in line at a left turn light. The light turns green, and the minivan in front of me doesn't move for about 4 seconds. So, I give my horn a very short tap to get the minivan moving. Once the turn is complete, I pass the the minivan (not racing etc). About a mile later, I merge into a left turn lane and stop for my turn. This allows the minivan to catch up. When the lady passes me, she absolutely blasts her horn for a long time. What's up with that? Why do people get pissed if you use your horn at them when they have legitamately made a mistake? I don't understand it. If I screw up driving, and someone points it out with their horn, it's my bad. They were right. That's what a horn is for.

That really sucks. I really didnt want to nail it, cause I know my car isnt very good in a straight line. Now if he would have done that on a twistie road, forget it, I bet his 4x4 suspension and front wheel drive couldnt handle the curves like my e30. But i've really noticed people will see what other people are driving and the "decide" if they can beat it or not, then try and race it. Cause it happened in that same spot around christmas. I was driving the "hauler" (88 460 f350 ford 5 speed (with a little motor work)) and some guy in a new silverado all jacked up tried to run me at the stoplight. Let me tell you, even with a 460, an 8000 pound truck doesnt run very quick, but the speedo started to wrap around towards the 5 again, (only goes to 85 lol) and I hadn;t hit 5th gear yet. Oh, I didnt win by the way.
However, when im driving my 49 chevy, no one tries to run me. I guess the 450 hp v-8 intimidates some people?

Doesnt stop them from trying to run my dad's roadster, and he is less forgiving than I am.

I have people try to do that to me all the time when I'm passing or getting on an onramp.. it hasn't worked on me once yet. I often wonder how slow people's cars really are, or if they just don't know how to drive, because normally it happens to me when my engine is cold and I don't take it over 4k...
