I called the dealer today and they do still have them, although they have to order it from Germany I guess. It's priced at $219, like someone mentioned, but the parts guy I talked to said the computer shows the skid plate doesn't work on the cabrios. Does anyone here have the OEM skidplate on a cab? I'd really like to get one, but I don't want to buy it and have it not work.

I agree that 1/8" thick is not enough for a skid plate. And the OEM one looks pretty flimsy too. if only I had access to a CNC plasma cutter or water just machine. I'd make one out of 1/4 aluminum plate with holes to lighten and plenty of room to remove the drain plug. I'm really amazed someone hasn't done this already.

Niether of them are, trust me. I have both. They'll do fine.

They should be able to take a beating, but when it comes down to it they need to save the oil pan, the skidplate can die if it must.

Sorry, I was reffering to the skip plates... $200 for an oil pan would be kinda high!

Nobody liked it though. I agree that it may not be the best design though.

If you actually read this thread you'd know the 666 Fabrication plate is not 1/8" thick.

By the way guys, got it all fixed last night. New oil pan and gasket and went ahead and installed the 666 skidplate too.

                          Ditto on the JB Weld.

I did the same to my 325 ES a few years back.

Didn't look that bad, and wasn't leaking, but the next morning, a huge puddle in the driveway.

Clean it up, sand it down, JB Weld it.

I had a friend that did JB Weld and it worked.

Those r some funky skid pates.

The ones we got here in South Africa, are solid, and they mount up inside the wheel wells, and on the subframe... with only a hole for the sump plug , can't snap pics as the car is at the body shop.
