I don't know squat about building a porsche motor but I do know many Porsche owners think they know how to drive the car...oh wait that also goes for Honda, Acura, BMW and many other owners.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

wow thats light, are those stock weights?
As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

European Car's 951 build up listed the stock weight at 2999lbs... But yeah, good to have that cleared up. Also, the 928 weights varied about 500lbs from the early to the late models, the late models being the heaviest overall.
Basically, Im still sticking to my point that if you do everything right, suspension, brakes, and the turbo system on the motor, it should at least run with a stock 951, if not do much better. The 951 chassis is the same as the 944s aside from a few little differences where they had to cut new holes to fit things like intercoolers. They came with a special suspension package and brakes from the factory, all of which will bolt right up to a regular 944. The only hitch is the motor, and we should all know from the BMW turbo guys that there are a hundred different ways to turbo a motor, and they can ALL work with some imagination.
That said, if I get a Porsche, it's gonna be my first P-car love... the 928. I know much more about those and I think the guys that own them are more similar to the guys that own E30s, E28s and E24... They don't seem to be afraid to tear into their motor in their own garage, or use custom parts that some guy got the itch to build in his basement and sell on the forum. :p
And we all know that 928s are teh sexzorz when compared to 944s :pimp:'88 528e /// '88 M5 /// '89 951 /// '98 E430 /// '02 M5

Ha ha.
951's are money pits.
Cheap and 951 do not go together.
They drive great with major turbo lag though. Stock brakes are superb for a 20 year old car too.
Unless your a baller, do not think about buying one.
It's kind of like the 18 year old kids that dream of E30 M3's and think a 8K E30 M3 is a good car......

928 guys have no choice but to tear into the cars themselves. If they took it to a Porsche mechanic for engine work, they would probably be forced to just abandon the car then and there. My friend has one with ~35K miles on it; I'm just waiting for something to happen to it so that he will weep like a child when he learns the replacement part costs.
To each his own. But to me, a 928 looks like a fat chick squatting. Too much 'back.'

it seems that you are determined to pour $$$$ into a porsche....despite all the recomendations that you are being given. so to give the comments some validity....how many of the people that have posted on this thread have actually owned/serviced/have hands on experence with porsches to back up their opinions?
for the $$$, if you want a track car get a 911!
you can get 80's 911sc's and carerras for reasonable $ or you can get into a c-2 (2 wheel drive) or c-4 (all wheel drive) for a little bit more.
for the ultimate sleeper N/A car you can take an early body car (although finding a non rusty one is hard to come by...early rust protection was shitty at best!) drop in a 3.2 complete motor STOCK with all the motronic management and headers and a stock dual outlet s/s Dansk muffler and drive with a giant smile on your face like the coolaid man! you can even have A/C! something that you really can't do on most of the 911's with out some major mods, and have it blow cool w/o heating up the engine.
just mywith some experence to back it up!
