before I even clicked this thread I knew it would be another bangle hatefest.
I mean, perhaps there was some point when he was still doing design, but shit he's been promoted, and these designs are in production. I just don't get the bitching at all. To me, it all sounds like "Whine....that car looks newer than mine and is so differently designed it shows how obsolete my bodystyle is."

He's taking BMW to radical new heights.... in the wrong direction.....
BTW I would take an old model BMW over a new one ANY day,
unless the damned thing levitates.
I don't have anything against Bangle in particular, but I think he is
out to reiterate with the Japanese econo-craps. A lot of the newer
cars he's licensed just don't hold the excitment, it looks like instead
of being origional and the pioneer in the auto industry like they always
have been, they'd rather rip things from other cars than spend the
time to think up new and exciting ideas. just my $0.02
--edit--
I lied, I think Bangle is a worthless snob without common perception
of his end users. That though, can all be solved by adding another
Roundel or few to his new cars though........
you guys can all think what you guys want. all the new bmw's are nice. plus they provide what bmw is supposed to, luxuory and power in its class.
here is another thing, bmw does care what you guys think, you guys drive 20 year old bimmers, and most likely arent in the class, salary range, or age to be able to buy most of the new bimmers. so who cares what you guys think of its styling or motors. the truth is BMW has sold more and more cars since the bangle cars have hit the market.
and another thing bmw never was or ever will be the unltimate driving machine. that title belongs to ferrari.
Reminds me of the new Suzuki stationwagon. Small, meager, and weak. I think the side effects near the sideskirt make it look to humble. It has no agressiveness like the cars BMW is known for. The 6 series is the only one that seems to maintain an agressive look. I did see an image simulation of the new 3 series in Road & Track and it doesn't appear to be changing dramatically. Thank god they decided to leave a good thing alone for once. I think they've butchered the 7 and 5 series - although they've given the aftermarket world great business if body kits can be developed to correct the "new BMW".
Check this months Bimmer out, pg 16 quote from "Letters" section. No 1 series per interview with BMW NA CEO Andrew Frank is no 1 series so don't worry about it yet.
On the diesel issue, I would love a new BMW diesel next year the 330d will have 369 lbs of Tq. Pavement ripping power, and 215 hp, which is plent for the US market. And to boot you will get 39 mpg around town. Smell, not bad refined diesel in EU has no cloud like our poor quality sulfur laden fuel. Nikisal block??? And the refineries say they make a good fuel, yeah right they just like to screw Joe Public.
$2.15 a gallon get real, it cost $1.69 a month ago, like the tanker suddenly stopped crossing the Atlantic.
