Everyone say hello to the next BMW that's going to fall victim to RICE. And more than any other bimmer that's ever been riced, because it's a hatchback.

I'll admit that it looks somewhat decent while rolling, but coming out with a hatchback has got to be one of the biggest mistakes BMW ever made, IMO. If you think those BMW ALLIANZ guys in Germany make BMW's look horrible now, wait until they get a hold of one of these.

Ah yes, you are right Shahe. I forgot about that. Shit, I have a pic of one on my wall.

I don't know, I just don't like the direction that BMW is going in now. You are right however, about the demographic they are marketing to. It's not us.

expect the cost of fuel to be close to $3 a gallon by the end of the year. it is never going to come down, either (it'll probably hit $10-$20 in our lifetimes, easy). you realize we're within 5 years of hitting a wolrdwide peak in oil production? we've already maxed out our domestic production, and the amount we can pump at home will go down every year, while the amount we have to import goes up. better buy those diesels now..

With the new hybrids the oil prices wont rise so much and who knows if we will be using oil in 40yrs. I remember that BMW is using hydrogen in some test 7s some years back and the performance numbers wasn’t to much off stock and what came out of the tail pipe was water. And with car today coming from the factory with better gas mileage we will see a less of a burden on our oil resources .

no, it will rise significantly in the next 5 years.. hybrids require oil for production, transportation (to a dealer), and you gotta make the electricity to charge the thing (more oil). Our entire economy requires energy to run, and about 60% of that energy comes from oil, and it is by far the cheapest source, even at $2.00 a gallon.

also, hybrids are only like 1% of the market, and they are not growing very fast.. in 20 years, oil production will be about half of what it is now, but demand will continue to grow.

Fossil Fuels are going to become obsolete in a decade or two. With the advancements in alternative fuel sources such as ethanol and the ever so promising hydrogen, there will be no need for fossil fuels in the future (especially if they're going to be twice as expensive as the alernative fuels). We don't have it in the NW yet, but there is ethanol at the pumps in many midwest states, and many car manufacturers are making their engines compatible with ethanol (MB, Ford, etc..). There was a show on PBS a while back on ethanol as a fuel source and they were testing a MBZ C230 with it. The car actually shaved over a tenth off of it's 0-60 time with the ethanol (however, fuel economy was slightly less than gasoline, which would be expected given the size of the molecules). Furthermore, I've heard many debates regarding the subject and some argue that we'll always be using oil because the large oil companies and auto manufacturers have such close ties with the EPA and other govt. agencies. However, the large oil companies such as Dutch Shell, British Petroleum, and Exxon have already begun researching the alternative fuel sources listed above. They're already planning on making the switch to hydrogen and ethanol as soon as we are...

Ethanol has been around for years. The just like to price gouge due to lack of poor planning on our account say that there was a high demand for fuel. Yeah like I'm gonna plan a trip when I know gas is going to spike. B.S. Like the refinerries don't know that spring is coming and that they should start refinning less oxygented fuel when march comes around? Hello Dick Tracey, it's called a calender for a reason or a spred sheet for profit lining the pockets.

And why congress doesn't say squat about it is they get a kick back from their contribution for re election fund and slush funds, they are just as much a criminal.

Serve 1 term and get retirement benifits another BS flag.

Nobody said that we're going to run out. We just said that there will be no need for them in the future.
