    Krylon Wrinkle Finish Paint

Do you think that this paint will be OK for the intake and/or valve cover? If it is not, will it just bubble and flake off?

I should work fine. Just make sure you follow the directions and clean the area throughly with wax and grease remover, (not bug and tar) or lacquer thinner. After you paint the valve cover, sand the raised area, using a hard block so you don't mar up your fresh paint.

i used that paint on my intake and valve cover. It's starting to flake, but i don't think that i got it that clean. Plus i used it on other things and it stuck really well. Here is a pic. of mine, you can see where it flaked but it stopped and has not flaked off any more.

I used it and it flaked bad, i suggest high-temp, won't wrinkle, but it'll last..

Do not waste your time and effort. Go to your nearest Harley Davidson store. Buy official HD wrinkle paint. There is nothing like it anywhere. It is absolutely fucking amazing.

              FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!

They are not kidding about not using an oven that will be used as a place to cook food ever again. The smell never goes away. Never.

You will find that with minimal effort you can do a wrinkle finish that will be damn near indestructable. Attack that stuff with a screwdriver and it is still hard to scratch. The wrinkle is tight and beautiful, just like an HD engine.

              Expect about $22 a bigger-than-average can.

If you don't have an oven to destroy, go get a big cardboard box and a space heater. Put the parts and the heater inside and let it sit for a while. Won't be AS great as an oven, but it will be better then leaving it in the sun.

And don't worry about the box burning, paper doesn't ignite or burn until it reaches 451º degrees. Most small space heaters won't get it NEARLY that hot inside.

                      i solved that oven problem...

i lined a carboard box with foil, then cut a hole out on top of the box to fit just the front of my dual 500 watt work lamps....i left it for a good 10 minutes and the valve cover started smoking due to the oil inside and on the underside. of course doing it outside in the open. and be weary of fire...the box gets pretty hot so keep an extinguisher nearby if it does...but mine came out real clean. the wrinkles were rock hard and it feel/looks pretty tough. Yesss rock hard.

i feel a flame coming on for my ghetto oven idea...should i get my nomex suit ready?

QFT - do this and you'll be happy.

I would also strip the thing with aircraft aluminum stripper - that shit works amazingly well.
