I have been preaching this forever and nobody understands it...

WHY? Don't be such a cheap-ass, and DON'T fuck around when it comes to your engine management software.
Haha why?? To save money. And yes, when your 16 with out a job, it pays to be a cheap ass. :)
Cool. Get yourself a cheap ECU chip, get it mapped with Jim C software (which isn't going to happen, just so you know), and be sure to have a cell phone and your AAA card when your engine goes tits up on you.

Most of the 16 year olds I know with nice cars have a way to get money for their cars. They GET A JOB.
Dude, you're providing completely false information. With a chip burner, you can burn Conforti mapping onto any blank chip, no problem.

I don't think Dinan or Conforti are the best chips you can get. Dinan chips are mapped for 91octane fuel (California), and Conforti chips arn't guarenteed to give you a perfect a/f across the board. On the M42, the Conforti chip leans out over 4500rpm. I'm not sure of the a/f's for the Conforti chip, but it'd be safe to say that you will not get a perfect 12.8-12.9 on an 'i' motor.

The 'best' chip is a custom programmed one for your motor. Active Autowerke sells custom chips, and they will match them to your exact engine setup, with spot-on a/f ratios. They are much more than Conforti or Dinan chips, but they are the best.

I love my MarkD chip, it made a huge difference.

Also, he is making chips for every E30 except the impossible M10 and the stepchild superETA. They're also cheaper, $179US.

Does anyone have experience with a dinan or JC chip paired up with some 19lb Mustang injectors, and/or a m30 AFM? If so, I am interested to hear what you think of the results.
