I'll release the final number after the event. It is amazing though and I personally could not imagine the forum could ever be so supportive.
I finally got ahold of the footage from the last Port Charlotte event from my own video camera. I'm uploading some in car footage as well as some earlier footage. Should be on YouTube soon.Erick Mahle | FullOpp Drift | YouTube

I think Kyle has some obsession for me.
Anyhow, since this is so close to the event, I guess its time to start posting up what I've been up to.
So far everything was going great until yesterday the radiator decided to take a crap on me. This is the 2nd radiator where the slot for the hose which returns the water to the T-Stat housing cracks right off. I wanted to point the finger at a poor design, but then again, drifting doesnt provide very good airflow since you hardly get good air going straight.
I have an Excel sheet with everyone that donated and everything that I spent, but it's in my laptop so I'll have to simplify it some.
44 People donated so far. The average donation was just around $21. Some helped out with parts instead of money. All of this brings the total donations (including parts for their costs) to a jaw dropping $950
Now what have I done with that money:
- Event Registration: $100 (driftfury.com)
- Tires: $220 (roadwaywholesaletires.com.....sp?)
- Clutch disc: $191.01 (Clutchnet)
- New Radiator: $120 (Local shop... should be coming in today)
- Hoses: $20 (BDSax and his dealership discount)
- Rear Bumper Trim: $25 (Again, BDSax :))
- Tune up supplies: $40 (Oil, filters, spark plugs)
- Stud kit: $90 (Vorshlag)
- ST Sway Bars: $344 (Flying Brick Performance)
There's a few more little things here and there but my laptop just shut off on me because I didnt charge it overnight. I know I'm also saving some $ for other expenses to come such as:
- Food: $10
- Gas: $100 (2 tanks.... 340 miles + track time)
- Hotel: $30 (sharing rooms with other drivers)
I mentioned that I wanted to do some body work (fender, front lip, valence, etc) before the event, but that didnt happen. I had no way of taking such huge body parts without using the car itself, and the shop wanted the car for like a week to do their work. The ST Sways were not the best investment because at the time it looked like I had $ to spare, and the car came back at me with more money to be invested in maintenance, so I was put in a bit of a tight spot, but I still have enough to pull it off. (again, mainly thanks to you guys)
I still have some money left over from my own stuff and if I dont have any extra costs until after the event, I should have a good chunk to invest on a roll cage. If I do get my license the first competition is here in Miami the weekend after (14th and 15th).
As for the car it is basically ready to go... the only things missing are the new radiator, which should get here today, mounting the tires, and putting on the ST Sways. I'll be picking up my video camera and stickypod and this time putting it outisde the car to get some awsome exterior footage for you guys.
Its really awsome to have all this support from you guys. This is not all though. There is also one surprise that I've left out, something I felt would properly thank you guys for this.Last edited by Erick; 04-04-2007, 05:39 AM.Erick Mahle | FullOpp Drift | YouTube
