meh, I don't want to see factory turbo bimmers, they have always been the main N/A car builder. Plus I don't want to see them getting lazy like mercedes when it comes to engine development..

First of all, with the exception of the fenders, the outer-most edges of the headlights and the tail lights, I like this supposed "2-series."

And second of all, yes BMW has made turbo cars from the factory... 2002 turbo, 745i, the many turbo diesels, etc. BUT: car magazines (especially Automobile magazine, whose editor is apparently Ms. Cleo) have reported for years about supposed turbo engines in stock BMW cars, before the models in question were ever released. And... I'm still waiting to see one. Don't count on what these magazines say. I'll believe it when I see it.

And am I the only one that thinks a basically smaller (~3.0L) S54 in this supposed M2 would be boring? I know that with the next generation M3/4 getting a new V8, there will no longer be a high powered straight-6 in the BMW line up, but I think a ~2.5L 4-cyl revved to about 8K would be much more fun and nostalgic of the M-cars' past. I think it'd be awesome if there was a newer, updated version of the S14.

          That would be amazing.

Hopefully they will make new cars that came from old ones, like the Z8 came from the 507.

Hell if you would talk about a newer S14 then I have to suggest that BMW follows Ford's steps: Build a new 3 series based on the old school 3 series, like the '05 Mustang.

It'd be nice to see e30s back in the scene.

hey.. I was first to post the 2 series!!! and my dinky thread has like 5 replies.. oh well. They wont bring the M car out at first, it will wait. The 300hp motor will probably be based on the the s54 motor since they are planning a 4.0 liter 400hp v-8 for the new m3. I think it will have plenty of potential.

I agree that it would be cool to see another 4 cylinder M powered motor, but the sixes are smoother and came make more torque. I have mixed feelings on turbo bimmers, but the other car companies are getting faster than us and we need to step up to the plate. I just dont want bmw to jump on the turbo bandwagon.

as far as turbos goin into bimmers.... wasnt BMW the first company to do that to a sport sedan in a 2002.... i remember hearing that somewhere, or reading it, whichever. Whatever the case... if its true then having a turbo in the new ones is just bringing back somethign they were the first to do.... problem?

theres really no problem, and it would be neat to have a turbo bmw. I have a feeling that they will get flamed because it seems like every car company today puts turbos on their base cars to make them faster.

BMW M thrives on N/A performance. not one M car has had forced induction and while not always being the fastest car available, is one of the best balanced. When you see car comparisons, the M cars will hold their own against supercharged and turbocharged cars. But.....on the flip side, maybe they should get some turbos and push themselves way ahead.

wasn't Porsche the first Automobile company that incorporated Turbo in their cars?

In 66' the gt350 mustang had a paxton supercharger as an option.
