    318 7k cluster in 325

Will this cluster work in my car?

Cary says it will but I don't believe it will.

where might one find this said "coding plug"

BTW: Cary, is it a motometer? or VDO?
Mine is VDO does that matter? Are they not compatable? As in same plugs in the back.

          your old 325 cluster?

and it shouldn't matter about motomoter or vdo. A friend of mine has an 87' 325is w/ a stock motometer and swaped to a vdo w/ no probs.

Any difference between moto and vdo?

I remember trying to put a VDO tach or speedo into a motometer mainboard and it physically wouldn't fit. Will work fine if you swap the entire cluster though.

Make sure they are from the same model year to be safe? I swapped VDO for MotoMeter, both '87s

I've stuck a Motometer speedo into a VDO cluster. My 318is has a VDO with my old Motometer coding plug and it works fine (M20 powered).
