HID in US ellips...Update: part 2!!

well, when i got my 88 325is, i was happy to finally have some ellips, but the lighting is HORRID! i mean, i can barely see the beam pattern on the street. so after about 2 weeks of driving this car, i remembered that i have set of HID lights offa E320...now i know what u all are thinkin, why the hell havent you used these before...well my reason is that the wiring on these things is rediculous...i mean most HID systems have like the balast, anda wire to the bulb....well, these have a balast, with about literally, 20 wires coming out of it, going to about 5 different plugs...so i never tried to figure it out, but 2day i got curious, and decided to sit down and untangle the mess of wires and figure this thing out....

well, after much testing with a volt meter and a car battery, i found the power and ground lines, and dremeled out the base of the HID bulb to fit into a 9006 housing, and viola, i now have a kick ass freakin HID system in my e30!!! let me tell you guys, all i have to say is DAMN, why didnt i do this before, the lighting is FAR superior to any other bulb, and with the ellips, theres no need for a leveler, the beam is perfect, i only have one side hooked up as of now b.c of time issues, but that one beam lights better than my 2 lows, and 2 highs put together... i will take a pic of the difference 2m with my frens digi cam, its crazy...

Turn the flash off and use a tripod or surface to steady the camera. You'll get much better pictures, like these:

I have a question. I just got my bulbs and ballasts today, so I plugged a ballast in, and put the bulb in the ballast socket. I then turned the car on and turned the headlights on. The bulb turned on and stayed on for maybe 2 seconds, then turned off. Now it won't turn on again and my regular halogen bulb won't work. Did I blow a fuse or something?

Turns out I did blow the #14 fuse, I just replaced it and the halogen bulb works fine, but why did the HID ballast and bulb blow my fuse?
