I'd like to see the R&T articles to check the 0 to 30 or 40 times.

Most of my driving (and probably yours, too) is stop-and-go city driving--slamming on the brakes, followed by mashing the gas peddle.

The eta ought to do pretty well in that kind of driving, having good torque down low. And it ought to get better gas mileage than my 16 to 17 MPG around town.

what else was done to your car?

Ported eta head, 283 cam, 325i intake, throttle body, electronics, MarkD chip, 19# injectors, m30 afm, long tube headers to 2.5in exhaust.

I beleive ya, do performance cams take away from your torque?

My eta actually sucked gas like a 60's big block. I got maybe 16 mpg tops. That was 3/4 highway driving.

You better believe I lost torque w/ that cam, 2.93 gears sucked w/ it. I loved the 4.10s, and the 3.73's are ok, gets you into the power band much quicker.

I prefer to call it a hybrid, rather than a 2.7i. I do have dual springs, but they are Catcams stiffer springs, matching the camshaft.

You had some very serious problems then. I never got below 27 with mine, and I get 30 with my m50 swap and 3.73s

Something must have been wrong, when i drive mine hard i get 21 mpg with hardly any highway.when i drive for economy i get 25-27mpg. ETA insurance is so cheap, i love it, its 500 less a year than my old Turbo Z. Also should i expect to loose alot of torque when i switch to an i cam?

I got 10 mpg this winter with my eta, but that was sideways in a parking lot the whole day. I get 24 normally, driving like an ass. What is the best chip for them? I am tired of my friends 540 beating me all the time.:)

I never had my eta over 110-115ish

Oh yeah. Most definitely. I never really looked into it though because the car always ran like a champ. Always fired right up, didnt burn a drop of oil, and there were no odd noises or interior rattles at all. Great car while I was in high school.

Hm I wouldnt know. Never really pushed it. 110-115 was just keeping up with traffic between 7 and 8 in the morning on I-485. Traffic is rediculous there. I had to stick to the far right lane in my '98 Silverado 5.7L because it topped out at 100 and it was a hazard for me to be any farther left.

Dont ask me why people go that fast in a 70 mph zone. I couldnt tell you.

better get used to it, i don't think the best chip in the world could save you.

I dont drive that route anymore. That was a couple of summers ago when the route was new. Cops were rarely there and people took advantage of it. I believe that it has slowed down now that cops are around every corner.

But either way people drive like idiots in the morning here. Coffee junkies hopped up on caffiene doing their makeup/shaving, talking on cell phones, and driving with their knees. Needless to say I've seen some nasty accidents.
