    Redline MTL... Yummy

Best $18 I have spent on the shark so far... The shit that came out of the gearbox looked like chocolate syrup. Shifting is so drastically improved now with the Redline MTL, I cannot even begin to explain what a difference it made.

    Just thought I'd share that

MTL is just a general term, your 75w90 will work as long as it's transmission gear oil and not differential gear oil. The Redline "MTL" I got from BavAuto is 70w80, I guess time will tell if it's thick enough.

$18!!! I changed the fluid in my tranny and dif and it ended up being about $60.

Granted I did have some left over.

Shifting really is night and day...Redline FTW

Haha for sure, I plan on doing the diff fluid once my M5 diff mount gets here.

gear oil is gear oil, there is no real diffrence between diff and tranny unless the gear oil has a limited slip conditioner or somthing
the only diffrence is weight. so if you've messed up before and added he wrong fluid then dont panic, just change it out again soon.

redline gear/diff oils are about $9/qt. tranny takes under 2qt, diff takes under 2qt. $18 for the trans, $36 for both

Get under the car and find the two plugs on the tranny, one is down low and one is up high.

                  Remove plugs and drain fluid.

                  Reinstall bottom plug.

Pump / pour / whatever the fluid into your tranny.

                  Reinstall top plug.

An old lug nut with the threads ground flat on two sides makes a great tool for the plugs... Just clamp it in a pair of vise grips and go for it!

Just got home from the shop where I had my trans fluid changed out w Redline mt-90, because that's what Flying Brick had and I was buying some other stuff. Getrag rattle sounds like it's GONE. I will listen more carefully tonight when it's quieter outside but sounds good so far. Did the diff myself with Redline yesterday, and the groaning during tight turns and choppiness pulling in/out of parking spaces is GONE. Redline FTW indeed. I would insert a thumbs up smiley but I don't want to open the big smiley window and apparently Hitler smiley and Negro Getting Chased By Po-Po smiley are more important and make it into the quick-select smiley window. And Cockblocked smiley. Sweet.

Make sure to remove the top plug (the fill plug) first, before the bottom one.
That way, if you run into problems with the top plug, you can still have fluid in the tranny :D

Some of our cars use gear lube and some use ATF in the manual trans. There should be a label on the side of the transmission telling which to use.

Haha I didn't say I felt cockblocked, I just think it's funny that that one is in the small window. I mean, how often does that get used? Haha he looks so sad, too. Is he the one blocking or being blocked? :cockbloc:

                              There. I used it.
