    I talked with my power transmission teacher about that. The only reason they do that is the OEM cost in manufacture.

      I stuck a hose in the bottle cap, and pumped air into the bottle to force the fluid out, through the hose and into the trans.

        Good thinking but the only problem with that is that its not accurate. I just bought a 1 quart oil can with a pump on it.

          Nice.. wish I had that.. But even so, it is very accurate.. the top plug is your level; basically, you fill up until it leaks out. you wait until it stops leaking, and, assuming the car is level, you are done.

            Well IIRC the bently and the Haynes manuals both say to fill it until you can feel the fluid on you little finger when sticking it in the whole.

            Now with the diff, this is true, fill it til it comes out but the tranny is a bit different. I doubt anything bad will happen but just letting you know.

            Oh and if you're looking for another thing to do to your car, grab some redline diff oil too. That shit makes all the whining go away in the lsd. I bought all of mine, tranny and diff, for 42 bucks shipped.

              it doesn't matter - I drained the ATF out of my ~224,000 mile transmission and filled it with redline. shifts smooth as buttah 30,000 miles later. ;)

                    Red Line MTL have had better results then BMW OE MTF-LT3. Just from personal experience.

                      Ok, I just thought maybe I bought the wrong oil... I read that 70w90 is good for the diff and mtl is good for the tranny?

                        I've still got some Amsoil GL-4 synthetic from my old car (75W90), I'll probably try putting that in this weekend.

                              do not go with a GL-5 unless you have to (ie recommended by the manufacturer). i had no choice in my impreza because of the front diff. GL-5 shifts like shit, great in the rear end, but terrible for the tranny.

                              MTL 70W80 is the way to go.
