You'd be suprized how many are laying around. Find an old bmw mechanic thats really into moding them or once was, he will know where to find one possibly. I knew of one that sat around for like 7 years in an attic.

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

Why wouldn't he do it? The summer before last, I took a trip to Germany. I spent an entire day in a junkyard pulling tons of parts. I filled up 4 suitcases and used all of my clothes to wrap up the parts to keep them safe in the suitcase.

Exactly. I'd do the exact same. Fill a plane if I could. :)

I did the same last month when I was back in France, but I had to keep some space for the wine as well :D

                    Maybe I'm thinking of a 723 or 725 or something. I'll take a 518i though :D

i'm not hatin', just annoyed at people that cant get more creative with search parameters than europe and vacation... what kind of ... alright, i'll hold my toung. This topic has been covered a couple times in FULL and if you look through the for sale section in the euro threads, theres LOTS of ideas.

sure as hell not a hater - ive been twice in the last couple years and ended up shipping a couple crates in a container. It makes for interesting money. how is it worth it to waste youre time in a junk yard looking for a german check pannel when you could be off exploring something a little more to europe than automotive parts in another language. ...its just a suggestion

prove me wrong though, i'd like to see when youre a day through the yard, if it was acutally worth it.

                        :D

Just relax. It's his time, not yours. Some people have different priorties, like scrounging breaker yards for euro snazzy bits versus browsing magnificent castles. I'd love to see a couple one day, but consider that on the same percentage of incidence as finding a mouse in a horses's mouth.

don't waste your time with anything you can order through your local dealer...

I would try to grab some euro smileys and an Mtech1 wing

Dude last time I checked, this was a forum where you could ask questions and get help, advise, opinions, etc. What you are giving me is none of these so stop wasting my time and everyone else time with you comments.

                            You annoy me.

To everyone else that has contributed, thanks I appreciate it.

I agree with you cmpletely on this but I was thinking of possible used replacement parts that would cost me a whole lot more here in the US. I have an IX and while I believe the US got 5000 or so, Europe has a great deal more so items such as a front differential or transfer case might be something I could find there and bring back.

Any pointers on getting the parts back into the US? I was thinking of calling the airline first and possibly customs to make sure I follow procedures. It appeas the most experienced person with regards to bring stuff in from Europe is too busy attacking me to give me real advise so I'm not to sure what else I should do.
