I will say McMerc has won this year in the acting category. The position change for Ferrari was too obvious, where as McMerc atleast made it look like Heikki tried into the hairpin at Germany

That ferrari show was a joke, but that rule is a joke, so bleh.

Good race today, not super exciting, everyone raced really well though. Thats what it looked like to me anyway...

Who thinks that ham will lose by a point again this year?

On to Brazil! Hopefully it is far more entertaining than this race, but I am sure it will be. Massa always seems to do excellent in from of his home crowd and how crazy would it be for him to win the championship in front of them?

I almost muted the broadcast. I normally like the sounds of Speed F1 coverage but it was getting really bad. It is like watching Sunday night baseball on ESPN while they rip on one of the teams. You are an announcer. Annouce and leave your opinions and crappy sarcastic humor at the door.

I get sick of hearing everyone 'knowing for a fact' if Heikki gave Lewis a 'free pass' there would have DEFINITELY been a penalty.

i don't really know if i would consider myself a part of the whole FIA conspiracy crowd. i just think that Spa was an incredible race that shouldn't have been decided by the officials.

there really are so many factors and influences (including the announcers) to consider within a race, perhaps it is difficult to moniter the penalties, rules and decisions without getting on one bandwagon or the other-

My take:

Kimi's 'lift' to allow Massa to pass was painfully obvious - I think it could've been more carefully executed. He did do a good job of supporting the team and maximizing points for the Constructors.

Like him or hate him, Hamilton owned the race from the moment the red lights went out. So much so he pulled the hat trick: pole position, fastest lap & the win. That's just dominance in every sense.

Alonso did a good job despite finishing where he started. The Renault may not be the fastest, but Fred knows how to get the most from what he's got to use on race day.

Kubica's performance was respectable considering all the handling issues he was having with the car. Although he's out of contention for the title, there's no question this guy had a phenominal season and BMW is solidly in third for the Constructors. Only 10 points adrift from McLaren - that's not bad at all considering the funds & resources the silver cars have.

Too bad Bourdais' day didn't go better. He did great in qualifying.....I was hoping he could finish the race in the top 10.

As for what may result after Brazil, that's hard to say. The Driver's title is definately in the air still but I'm pretty confident Ferrari will take the Constructors title.

Quoted for truth. I had such a great piss during David Hobbs' Lewis Hamilton lovefest. I understand Hobbs being enthusiastic for another young, successful Briton, but seriously, if I hear another word about LH being the next "boy wonder" I'll have my television on mute during for the entire 2009 season.

About the race, fairly uneventful. LH did a good job of maintaining the lead and building a gap between himself and the SF duo. It was a shame that neither of the Ferrari's had the pace of the McMerc today. I was also gutted for Heikki, who I assume eventually just gave up after being relegated to the back of the field with his RF puncture. A big, flying "fuck you" to DC for bitching about some imaginary block by Heidfeld, I never saw any such maneuver during the Q1 session. My opinion is extremely biased though, I loathe DC and cheer for Heidfeld, did anyone else see the move that Heidfeld supposedly put on DC?

Looking onwards to Brazil, I really hope that Alonso (or anyone else tired of LH) puts the block on him during the race and allows Massa to clench the WDC.

I was wishing so hard last night when I was watching that the McMerc engine was going to melt down. No such luck.

Interesting point about this. Since Heikki's race ended early due to retirement (not sure why he did), he won't get penalized with changing to a fresh engine going into Brazil. The race at Shanghai was the first of two races on the motor currently in his car so he would've had reliability concerns (like he did back in Japan) had he finished the race yesterday. So he'll have a fresh motor for Sao Paulo with only one race to run which will allow him to maximize his right foot usage.

Not sure if Lewis is getting a fresh engine or if the next race will be the second of the required two race weekends rule. Ditto for Massa.....used engine or fresh engine heading into Brazil?

I believe he does. It was discussed back in Singapore that Ferrari have used said wildcard engine option in both cars already - so they're bound by what the engine use rules stipulate. I just don't know if they get a new motor for Brazil or they have to use the motors from the Shanghai race.
