I'm not for the outright elimination, just the removal of fuel stops. Hell, mandate the "option" tire as the only rubber, and watch the strategy unfold from there. See who can manage a tire that falls off quickly, who can stay out and who has to lose time in the pits.

Wow, interesting. I have no idea how PSA Peugeot Citroën would delegate such a purchase, but I know Peugeot has quite a bit of money in their 24H LeMans/LMS efforts and Citroën has plenty wrapped up in their WRC campaign. I'm not debunking this rumor, but I have my doubts that the French auto industry would allow such an unusual purchase (considering Jordan/Peugeot's sub-par Formula One days just eight years ago.)

Won't happen... F1 is Bernie's raison d'etre. He'll run it until he can't anymore. It's his baby. The guy is a born wheeler and dealer, and probably doesn't want smooth sailing.

I agree about what's been said re: dumbing down. F3, F2000, all of the 'feeder' series.. maybe F1 will resemble those in some ways, but it will be temporary. I agree w/ Charlie, the show will go on and just like we all wish for the glory days of 1-hr qualifying or 900hp v10's, the new rules sound like rubbish now but there will be new scandals and f1 trickery. New things to love about the sport.

Ever since technology and bigger money has come to F1 (and I mean late 80's up to now), the factory team arms race has created a lot more cool, techno-nerd things to talk about...
Schumacher's unprovable-advantage Traction control, McLaren's iridium motor parts, Renault's dampers, active suspensions, Honda's hidden reserve fuel cells, etc.
And these are just the ones that made it to the public.

... but before ridiculous money came along, interesting things like these happened, just less often. That suction car that was outlawed (brabham?), the 6-wheel Tyrell car, etc.

It will be interesting to see who comes out on top... you'd think Williams would be rubbing their hands together. And that Richards guy from Honda probably will come back to the sport.

[hater]And it's too bad this didn't happen after Michael had won just 2 or 3 championships.. I'd love to see him drive an underdog car[/hater]

i cannot stand the idea that schumie was putinto the best car and thats the only reason he won so many races. thats fucking BS. the guy made the team and every season/race he competed in for 15 years he was a contendor for the win.

if you think otherwise, your simply wrong.

                              Yep.

People seem to forget that Schumacher leaving Bennetton was considered a huge step down when he went to a struggling Ferrari program. Remember that Villeneuve tried the same thing a few years later with Tyrell/BAR and failed miserably.
