S2000 or Swapped E30?

Going to college in the next year, and will have about 15k to spend.

Now, in college, im not going to have money for maintenance and other stuff that goes wrong, so this is why the whole question of anything besides the e30 came up in the first place

The s2k looks like a fun car, but is it rice? would i be able to make a s50 e30 for less than an s2k? would it be reliable?

Im not sure, i just cant find out why i'd spend 15k on a 25 year old car vs a 4 year old car when i need reliability. please tell me im not the only one on here that sees this :???:

Well an E30 is a good all around car...the S2000 is just a 2 seater convertible.

EDIT: btw, in college i don't want to be the DD (:devillook) so the whole 2 seater thing doesn't bother me.... convertible is kinda gay though.

Get the s2k.

It's a hell of a sports car, and it's reliable. I wouldn't call it rice... it's a purpose built car. They only come in 6spd for a reason. It all depends on the owner's taste.

If verts are "ghey" then just get a hardtop and it'll look just as good. If you 'need' practicality though, go for the e30. You might as well enjoy a small car while you can, before you have kids and your wife makes you get a mini van :???:

It all depends on how you spend your money. A nice late model E30 with good paint etc. etc. could cost you anywher from 2500 to 4000 depending on what kind of deal you find. With the other 11000 you could put a good s50 or s52 with tranny and all the bell and whistles to make it fast, and you can't forget suspension and all the goodies there. With the E30 chassis comes reliabily. Not many things break on these cars so body and chassis wise you'll be in good shape. But how you decide to put the motor together will decide how reliable the actual motor will be.

The real plus side to building your own swapped E30 is that YOU BUILT IT. You know everything that has gone into it. Anyone with 15k can buy a fast car but the person that builds a car for 15k is the person I think will enjoy the car most.

Seriously? Those are you're only two choices? If they are I would go with the S2000, well not really, I'd get an E46. An Alpinewhite 325it with ZHP kit ;) Without that gangster tint though...
