i dont think people are trying to discourage you from doing the v8 swap. its very unique over the common m50 and you will have instant powa; i wouldnt mind having one :p

the thing is its not "bolt in" like the m50 so you have to know what you are getting yourself into.

    i think along the lines of difficulty, its m50 < m30 < m60 = m70

but you listed a few shops so i dont see why this would be of concern; granted you have the funds to support such an endeavor

    DOIT!!!!

i want to do a v12 turbo. but the cheapest running v12 i found was 3 g's. so unless its that i dont care too much for the " unique" factor. it just seems like the m50 could give me more hp easier. the v8 has more hp stock but is harder to modify. thats what im hearing so far. and on those terms ill stay with the m50

get the V8..... its a harder swap but the effort will pay off in the end. You will have a faster and more impressive car.

Oh and have you heard the sound of a Bavarian V8 with a nice open exhaust

its not near as modable(new word) from what people are saying.

im 100% for the sound of a v8 exhaust

A domestic v8 will be just as easy of a swap as a bmw v8 and is going to take to mods better than any bmw engine.

The best engine for any bmw is an LSX, an ls1 with a t56 6 speed can be found for under 3 grand, since you seem worried about the cost of the engine.

my dad offered me a domestic motor from one of his drag novas. he had a bunch of stuff for it and everything. ive been trying to keep my bimmer all german. but the domestic motor keeps looking like it will give me the most hp for my buck, especially considering what i could get free. i just think a bmw would look weird if you open the hood and its all chrome and american shit, as opposed to a nice bmw motor. it would sure sound alot more viscious.

check out the latest euro tuner. some guy has an aluminium block chevy motor in an old E28. Something like a 7 liter but still lighter than an M30, since its shorter it doesn't screw up the handling too much either.

that thing looks pretty beast. but i still dont like idea about putting something american in my german car. i love the look of a stock e30, at the same time a v8 exhaust is BOSS. maybe ill call my dad tomorrow to see if i can still get that motor and what else i could get, then i can decide if i wanna go that path

Do a google for EdgeMotorwerks. They swapped a BMW V8 into an E36. It made good power but they had some reliability issues.......

im going to go with a small block chevy v8. my dad out the blower and most of the motor he was gonna give me into an old chevy pickup he bought. so i cant get that stuff free anymore. he is gonna help me out with it tho. chevy v8s are loud as fuck. its worse then my car in high rpms on the highway, but it sounds mean. the m50 and all the swap parts will most likely show up on ebay in a couple weeks.
