Powersliding VS Drifting and How do I Control a Powerslide?

    So what separates the two?
I would imagine that powersliding serves a function wheras drifting seems to be for show.

However, I ask this question because I'm not sure what function powersliding serves. I always thought that the quickest way around a corner on tarmac was to keep the tires rooted and that powersliding was reserved for rallying.

Or does powersliding serve a function on the road?
If so, how is it most effectively executed? I'm new to it, but I find that when i go turn a corner pretty hard in 2nd gear in my eta, my tail end slides out and I'm always struggling to countersteer and prevent fishtailing. HOW can i control it when it does happen?

Shed some light please...and please don't turn it into like my last thread...
I want to learn, so please leave cack-measuring elsewhere.

*i accidentally posted this in General Technical...can a mod delete the one in that forum?
    thanks

your best bet is to practice in a parking lot and not let it happen elsewhere

I'm glad you're on the other side of the country, so I don't have to worry about you "powersliding" into the side of my family's vehicles.
