    Bought the 1989 325ix tonight

I just drove the 1989 325ix home tonight. I paid $8600 for the car, talked the guy down from $8900. The car is like brand new.

I tried to find things that were bad on the way home: nothing.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them:)

The car is bone stock. 57,000 miles and in mint condition. ONLY serviced at the BMW dealer. The car is fucking awesome. I didn't overpay. Look at the going rate for the ix's. Its MUCH higher than the other e30 models, even with higher miles. Take a look in the Roundel classifieds. 200k ix's going for $7-8k with people who modded the hell out of them and most likely beat the fuck out of them. This car will keep me happy.

Only 57K miles? Jesus christ....that is a find! You very seldomly see ANY E30 on the market with such low mileage these days. Its important to keep in mind the newest ix's out there are 13 years old...so finding a 15 year old example in perfect shape with well-below average mileage is a rare find. I have seen other "gem" E30s with roughly twice that mileage going for similar figures. The fact that this car is an ix makes it that much more unique. Typically, people who get these cars live in harsh climates and they drive the snot out of 'em. The result is chipped paint, tired this-n-that, and if they salt the roads, rust could be a very real posibility.

I don't think you got a smokin' deal.....but you didn't get taken to the cleaners either. All in all you did good. Again, congrats on your purchase.

You may have overpaid but it is kind of worth it, it must be a great car with such low mileage on it!

Take good care of it and it should hold some value, ix's are becoming more and more rare. I have problem seen no more than 1 or 2 in person

The car is from PA; they are smart there and don't use salt on the roads. It's a little different here in Ohio, they fucking use salt everywhere. I bought the car to keep the 325ic garaged, but this car too, is worth being garaged. I am probably going to end up getting the car rust proof'ed again. The PO had it done in the past. About the only thing that needs to be re-done on the car is a new pin stripe.

I will most likely end up keeping the car as stock as can be. About the only modification I will be making is to the sound system. I'll probably end up putting my old Alpine cd player in there and getting some new speakers.

I've been looking to get an ix for quite sometime now but haven't come across anything worth while. I was not interested in a car that had more than 100,000 miles, expecially an ix. This car is going to keep me happy. On my way out the door this morning for work, I walked past the car. I couldn't help not smiling as I walked by it.

I took my dad down to Canton to look at the car with me. He was very impressed with the car and he too, thought it looked new.

The PO had been trying to sell it for a few months and had recieved phone calls from all over the country, just no one willing to come take a look at it from out of state. Even though he listed the car as being an automatic, he still got phone calls of people getting their hopes up of it being a manual. If the car had been a manual, it would have been sold within a few weeks of him placing the ad.

Here is the ad on autotrader:

Thanks again, I really do think I found a gem of an e30.[/url]

Ohh, btw, what are the 'stock' sized wheels on the e30 325ix? My dad has some blizzaks up in the garage from his Thunderbird that are like new. They're 15" and I'm really hoping they will fit on my car.

As a native Pennsylvanian, I can most definitely speak to the untrue nature of that statement. They use SALT in PA. Just ask me about my low mileage 1980 528i that I had to scrap because the body was gone.
