I work for the City of Tacoma. I like my job. There is absolutely no passion involved but they take great care of me. Hopefully I can make enough cash to get something going on the side to make more money doing what I like someday. We'll never run out of work and thats great to have.

The best part of my job is seeing a customer post pictures of a part that I sold them. I start recognizing parts here and there and tell myself "Hey I sold him that part!" :)

KO has their ups and downs though. It's definetly much more demanding than any other job I've had, but because I work with something I like, I am always up for the challenge.

i used to be a Porsche mechanic, but like most will tell you that do it for a living, it will take away your desire to work on your own cars. when i was getting ready to take another direction, i was offered a job doing bodywork at the same shop. it is way more challenging and more satisfactory. i get a kick out of reverse engineering a wrecked car and returning it to the customer in like new...ish condition (we'll car it pre accident condition). i have always worked on high end European cars and lexus/accura, so they are almost always well taken care of to begin with, which makes it nicer. there is a big tool investment...downside and it is hard work,that is hard on you physically. the upside is if you get good and work with some speed you can make really good $$. it is commission work so if it is slow (like it has been for the last 2 days) you don't make any money. when it is busy, you make killer money.

working at bars is fun. i have done everything from bouncing to bar tend. the money is great. the Va JJ is constant. the hours do kind of suck, and if you are dating someone not in the industry, it can be hard. if you want to make $$ you work every holiday so you don't get to go drink with your friends and do shit on holidays.

making porn was the best 3 years of my life. if you have no shame, no political aspirations or desire to be on American idle, a certain moral flexibility, and the physical requirements. there is no better job! great pay, lots of Va jj (duh...), the work can be sparatic (1-3 times a month) but for extra money it is the best!

Plus one, I hear that. I love my job; I service and restore old Porsche's and BMW's. It's great to have customers who understand where their money is going. I also enjoy driving customer cars, but that goes without saying.

And porn is good.

having fab skills is good too (i started in the industry at a VW shop building turnkey sand rails from a pile of parts. bending the tubing in jigs and welding it together, from start to finish.) since i didn't get a car to work on until 3:30 today, i built a licence plate bracket out of a no parking sign for one of the writer's bikes and installed it........$80 cash

I'm told my job is kick ass, yet i'm a grass is greener on the other side kinda guy.

i drive around to different hospitals and clinics and install, service, and calibrate medical imaging equipment. its a salary paid, work from home role, where if youve done your job, you dont have to come in to work days at a time. Its much like a government job, so full bennies and options, not a whole heck of a lot of vacation time but meh an no real option of moving up in the ranks unless you have tenure.

Probably the coolest part of this job, other than normally going to job sites at 10 and done by 4, is working in depth on some of the most technologically advanced equipment in the world.
The down side is like times when a CT goes down and i'm called in to work late nights (after starting at a beer buzz), pretty much jumping through hoops to have the hospital up again by morning.


last week's little thrill was from installing this PET/CT. Here i activated CT standby to get it spinning. $1.5M for this puppy :)

^^^I delivered some radioactive compounds to the Nuclear department at work once, and they had one of the particle/ray receptor things that a tech was working on. The internals of that thing were extremely complicated.
