    any 325's w/out check panel?

Any 325's come from the factory without the overhead check panel? If so what was in its place? Did they have an entirely different overhead panel?

you could use a 318i panel. and leave it unhooked. Its "blacked out" more that the 325 ones

is the check panel really a significant weight savings? maybe 3-4 ounces?

Out. Along with the trunk tar, and jack etc.

I'm going to hold off on the battery for now though.....

If I can remove the check panel and a good bit of wiring that pertains to the check panel, it would be a decent weight savings.......I just sold my maplight rear view mirror and installed a regular mirror..

I leave the tire out as well. The M42 doesn't have enough torque at lower RPM to get it to rotate with the tire in.

Early (84-85) 318's have nothing there at all, just a solid panel. My later 318 has a cutout for the Check Panel but a blank filler in it's place.

M42? The M20 is the same way. At least with 275's or 285's. Leaning towards the 18's but haven't decided yet.

One of those two options is PERFECT. But it needs to be a 325. I'll have to dig through a huge shop manual I picked up. (actually has some usefull stuff like this in it)

Ive tried with my tire in and out. Seemed better with it in.(could all be in my head though) Better 50/50 weight i suppose. the ix has more weight up font. My tar is still in. Ive though about ripping it out and rhynolining the trunk. dunno. I like the sound deadening.

auto-x only car? Wouldn't you run it with no mirrors (side and rearview)?

I have 2 used blank panels if anyone is interested in buying. One is completely blank, one is out of a late model 318i (so it has the seatbelt warning) but I took the bulb out.
