Let see here are the parts it has
eta valve cover
Eta intake brace
I intake manifold
What appears to be a 325i wiring harness do to the 2 sensors on the Thermostat housing versus the 4 of the 325e
Pre 88 I idle control valve
Older fan blade(red in color) newer cars have a Black fan
Other than that no way to tell for sure without pulling the valve cover and finding markings on the block. But even then that engine is pieced together so who knows.

Looks like an i engine with ETA valve cover and brace or ETA engine with i intake manifold and Motronic 1.1/1.3 in an 86-87 body. The idle control valve style was used in 87-88 so it's probably an 87 325i car. However, after looking closer at the pic I see the white oil filter perpendicular to the block which means it doesn't have the 325i oil filter head for the oil cooler. If it is an i engine then they would have to had eliminated the oil cooler setup...which is not likely. There is also a funky hose (vaccuum?) going over the intake boot. Ok, I'll guess it's a 86-87 325/e/eS w/i intake and Motronic 1.1/1.3.
