If I stopped attending HPDE's, I could afford a nice E30 M3. I know there are a ton of variables and personal satisfaction issues, but vote anyway.
Continue attenting HPDE events or by an E30 M3?

Buy an E36 M3.....

It may seem "counter productive" to what you may have your sights set on, but E36s make good track cars. You can snatch them up for cheap (even M3s) and a few simple mods will transform it into a capable car. Who gives two-shits about interior quality when you're focusing on improving driving skill.
Should I ever sell my E30 but still desire to do track days, I'd get an E36 and beat the snot out of it. That's all they're good for anyway :-P

Hey Jon, it's an either or situation. I either keep tracking my 325 or spend the HPDE registration, gas, food and lodging money on an M3.It may seem "counter productive" to what you may have your sights set on, but E36s make good track cars. With 9 DE's under my belt, I am at least another 9 or 10 events away from TT. How do you figure TT is cheaper? Also, if I did get an M3, it would be a weekend driver, no track action.
I would like to eventually have a very clean example to preserve and drive occasionally, maybe put 5K per year on her.Originally posted by Court M3what are your plans for the M3?
Dev, your generosity brings a tear to my eye, my friend :D If I did get an M3, I wouldn't have money to spend on DE's... it's one or the other. I would keep my 325 as my DD though.Originally posted by devonjordanMark, e30 M3 is the greatest car of all time. Do it, I'll share my e36 with you for track days, haha.I Timothy 2:1-2Comment

^^^^ That brings some clarity to the picture for me. I guess you need to determine what you want more: track days or a nice E30 M3 as a "hobby" car. I certainly wouldn't want to have a E30 M3 for a track car unless I was financially prepared for it. That's not a cheap vehicle to use in such a fashion.

I think you have plenty to start doing TT and I thought HPDE's are like a couple grand to go to? Events like the Redline TT Challenge are a couple hundred. Thats why I said it is cheaper, but I am probably wrong about the HPDE's but I thought since you have an instructor at certain ones they are a lot more.Comment

No, most HPDE's are $250-$300 depending on the club you are going with

HPDE's give you the opportunity to enhance your car control skills, thus making you a better driver.
An E30 M3 will surpirse and amaze you, that is if a.) you can afford to keep it running properly, and b.) you can afford to buy a DD.
My vote goes for the former, continue to better yourself and buy the driver's car later on.- Trey
