Lol, obviously sarcarsm. Didn't see the point I was making earlier I assume.

Aptyp: What I was doing is stating why most people pay a premium for an E30 M3, and stating why you can't apply the same logic to the new CSL(like some others are doing). Yeah, there is history behind CSL, but this one(THE ONE THAT WE'RE DISCUSSING) has yet to prove itself. Look at the competition and tell me it's the best, or even good bang(overall) for the buck. Instead of saying the post was useless, try to comprehend it first.

But whatever, if people want to pay a premium just because it's a limited production car, when they could get a lot more for their money, then let them.

I like how Charlie put it..

I wouldn't consider a Chevrolet Corvette to be "a lot more for my money."

Oh well, guess that's the difference between a BMW enthusiast and a BMW owner.

the new CSL will NEVER have a chance to prove itself if they are building less than 400 copies. So they are building a museum piece. Watch last Top Gear, they've built 14-feet of art. The ultimate-driving machine, just like an Alfa Romeo, is now a poster.

#1- Who gives a rat’s ass how much money it costs, because 99% of you will never see that much money at one time in your entire life.

#2- Arguing about what car is "better" is pointless as we are all looking for something different in our cars.

#3- You can rip on BMW all you want for this move, but if any of you have actually gone through any of the exotics or high HP cars you list, you would have seen the fit and finish. And there, BMW takes the cake, even when compared to Ferrari and the like.

#4- If it was so stupid for us to put loads of money into our e30's, don’t you think we would second guess ourselves? I know 3 guys including myself that are at 50k or above on their projects, all of which plan on keeping the car indefinitely. I have had guys in Z06s, 911 Turbos, E46 M3's etc all drool over my car. Why? Merely because it’s not something they can go out and buy typically, and it’s either faster, or annoyingly close. Or, it just has so much more damn personality than their off the production floor machines.

I personally grew up wanting and loving the e30 withough even knowing what it was. Used to play with m1, 3.0csl, and 2002tii model cars and didnt even realize it until a little over a year ago. So to me there was a deeper search for the BMW that fit me. And the e30 with lots of bits, fits.

So do I think it’s a silly move for BMW? No way. Look at the market of their current customer base. If I had money to burn, I might or I might not choose the BMW over another marque. But I would consider it. Whatever happened to the idea 'less is more?' lol

50 hp? No luxury? Significant price increase? No thanks.

On the other hand, if you have the money to burn -- why not. ;)

why does the pricetag even matter to any of you? The payment on that is probably more than what most of you earn in 2 months. It may as well cost imaginary dollars. I will never be able to afford one - and to make it more unlikely, there will only be 100. I would be amazed to even see one.

Ok, so specs, features, and pricing don't matter, and we shouldn't judge any cars?

I see where you're coming from, but this is a forum, lol. If you have an opinion(everyone has had a negative one at some point) to express, this is the place to do it.

That's like writing a letter to all of the car magazines out there and asking them to stop doing comparisons.

                      That was very well put

There is always going to be something that is bang for your buck cheaper or faster or prettier than whatever, whether you have an e30 or a ferrari. Look what some people come up with for the $2007/8 grassroots challenge it gets rediculous. Cars like this cant appeal to logic, sporty cars in general are not made to be logical or fall within reason. Sporty cars are created, built and sold on emotion. Thats it, you have logic and then emotion, assets and liabilities, things that make you money and things that cost you money.

You could drop 50k on a Kia Rio if you were passionate about it. That doesn't mean that the majority of us here would agree with or like it, nor that we would be "wrong" for not liking it. Where is this "come on everyone, let's not be negative" attitude when one of the Prius bashing threads comes about?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and mine is that I would spend that kind of money elsewhere. I'm not saying it's not right for everyone, just not right for me. If you want to misinterpret that, go ahead, but I'm done.

Speak for yourself -- everyone on this board is not a notch above the poverty line. :curse: Sometimes I hate owning an e30...

Comparing the poverty line to a $140k car? Bit of a stretch isn't it Paul?

There are a lot of people on the board well distanced from said line.

                                No kidding?

That's my point; e30 owners come from all walks of life. Saying that nobody here could possibly afford a CSL is asinine.
