I said get new stock rotors. And as for the slotted rotors, I said some people believe they crack easier. I do cause my old Datsun SCCA car ate Brembo slotted rotors up, But didn't eat Blank Brembos up. There is really no reason to get slotted rotors on a street car, Period. Other than for the Fuh Raze look.

Pelican Parts and BMA Parts are where its at.

Agreed. There are things I buy used, and then there are mechanical things.

As far as the Goodridge brake lines, Tire Rack sells them but for some reason they don't have them listed for certain E30's. Here is a list of Goodridge NA distributors if you have no luck with Tire Rack.

BrakeWarehouse.com sells Axxis Ultimate ceramic pads, their pricing is pretty fair too.

        Okey dokey,

I still haven't heard of slotted rotors cracking, I have heard they tend to go through pads a bit quicker, but that's it.

Fuh-raze look, really? The price difference is rather small and considering he'll probably rock them behind bottlecaps or weaves, they'll be barely noticeable.

Everyone who I know rocking Brembo slotted or ATE PowerSlot has had zero complaints. But then again, I am apparently talking to teh br8k mAsTAAR.

                  Cool guy,

You claimed your Datsun SCCA car "ate Brembo slotted rotors up." I found that odd, primarily because I've never heard that before. You said that slotted rotors are fuh-raze, but it's been proven that they expell more gas, and more importantly, release more heat than solid rotors.

You may have a point about the fuh-raze thing though, as I have seen slotted rotors on numerous ALMS GT cars, Speed WC/GT cars, etc. Those guys should really revert back to solid rotors.

Eat your words and a parmesan encrusted dick.

                  Regards,

So, anyways OP, like I was saying, slotted front rotors will be fine for your car. They're about $40 more than the equivalent OE front set, but I'm sure you'll be impressed when coupled with newer calipers, lines, pads, etc.

                      Best of luck.

back to topic, I have spoken to some people one being my mechanic, and he said he prefers solid rotors, they are the most effective and the brake pads aren't worn out as fast. On the other hand, I have my friend who is somewhat a car buff and has a hooked up E39, he swears by drilled and backs up his argument that all the ///M cars have drilled rotors. I say fuck it, I'll get solids in back and slotted in front, simply because from a structural design they are less likely to crack. Get some calipers and slap em right on with new fluid and steel brake lines from tirerack. Thanks guys, don't fight.

Now, I have heard about the slotted rotors going through pads a bit faster than solids, but if you plan on doing some spirited driving/driving events later on I think you'll notice and appreciate the differences.

///M cars, AMG cars, most Porsches (including PCCB equipped cars) all have drilled rotors. From what I've heard, the reason they use these rotors is purely cosmetic. In the case of PCCB, the reason those are drilled is most likely to reduce unsprung weight on each corner.

I did some reading yesterday on a RX-7 forum about the debate of solid v. slotted v. drilled rotors, and I found some interesting information. Everything I have heard about drilled rotors is that they do NOT reduce cooling at all, and in many (usually on-track) situations, they are prone to cracking. Most companies/race teams seem to say that solid or slotted are the ways to go. Check the link below, refer to post #32.
