Crimminy. I have a few Roundels in the loo and was looking at the May issue, thinking it was the newest one. It says $9.99 and no expiration date. I will call tomorrow and report back.

I doubt it will do much for M20, consider the filter is so close to the exhaust manifold. The ambient temp around that area is likely to have similar temp as the oil. If ambient air at that area is hotter than oil, then the heatsink will actually heatup the oil.
Also, heatsink requires significant amount of air to carry the heat away from heatsink. Not sure how much cool air can move through around the filter area.
IMO, you might see some difference when you have a remote mount filter and direct fresh cool air through the heatsink.Comment

What do you mean? I thought they were all track addicts: "yo, dudez. I was d0riftoing my race car E30 around the wall mart parking lot last night and I smashed into a mail box. how do I fix my bent bottlecap? I can't afford a new one." :pComment

hmmm...
What does that mean?
As to the discussion at hand....
The Heat sinks work...(not super duper... but they work)
Most M20B25 oil coolers don't work(most all the thermostats are bad pretty much after 60K and nobody ever replaces them).Comment

lol
-seriously, about the stock oil cooler, I noticed that mine doesn't work (finns stay cool-ish), how does one go about removing the oil thermostat? I've had the filter housing open before and I don't remember seeing anything "removable"...1989 cirrisblau-metallic 325iComment

I don't really remember what it looked like inside the cooler housing - but I'm pretty sure I've replaced everything. I guess an easy way to see if it works is check to see if it gets hot. I'll do that after work if I remember..Comment

Might the heat sink act as a layer of insulation around the filter? Seems that the filter is made of thin metal, which probably already absorbs exhaust manifold heat...I Timothy 2:1-2Comment
