Because the PO provided brand new brake pads in the trunk so I might as will turn all rotors and put new pads, also I dont want my gf to have any problems once I give it to her, and I love the way it feels to have fresh cut rotors,,, sooooo smooth... Its all free for me I work at a shop with all the equipment and tools so its just time for me.

Dude give him a break. You have to go to middle school to learn that.

I don't think I'd ever buy a gf a car as a present. It just sounds like a bad idea to me, but I'm pretty cynical. Who gets it if you break up?

I agree-I was thinking the same thing, although I must admit I did the same thing for a previous GF that had been living with me for a couple of years. Luckily in my case, when we split up her parents said they would buy the car from me so she could keep it. Regardless, I wouldn't do it again.

It's a nice gesture and all, but it can come back to be a thorn in your side too.

You make it sound like they warp as soon as you have them bedded in.. Get the OE Brembos and some half decent pads (probably NOT what the PO provided in the trunk) and your girl will have smooth brakes until the pads contact the rotor vents.

Do you work at a Meineke? Dont cut the rotors, just buy new ones. If there is enough lip on the rotor to justify possibly cutting/turning them, then they are probably beyond the factory tolerance.

Meineke lol no, guess you missed that thread...

I work at a independent shop I have been the only mechanic for over a year now and we have all the tools and if we don't then we buy them.

So for me to cut a few mm off to make a rotor perfect again it just take a few noisy minutes.

The rotors only have 60k on them so there was only a 2mm lip, no need to replace and if so I have extras.

So today went well, I first pulled the driver rear caliper to free it up then I noticed how god awful the fluid was so I hooked up our pressurized break bleeder and ran new fluid through all the lines.

The rear passenger line not-coming off of the caliper, had a slight clog which had to be freed up with some mechanics wire!

As for the pads I normally use dust free pads but in this case the PO supplied napa pads which are great replacements.

I only had time to do the rear pads today ill have to do the front tomorrow.

After a test drive I'm ready to buy some new rubber, these pirelli from 92(have receipts) are pretty dry and ready to split after sitting for 10 years.

The ac gets so damn cold with a new expansion valve you almost have to turn the temp up.

I noticed I have an lsd!

I was able to bring the rear view mirrors back to life with some Armor all gel! (I still plan to paint match them when the time comes)

Cant wait till this weekend so I can clay bar this thing I'm sick of the white pale look it has lol.
