    Jumping an e30..

Okay, I'm almost embarassed to ask this one.

I was working on the resr suspension yesterday, and in my infinite wisdom, left the trunklid open for about 10 hours, with the light on of course. Put everything back together, go to crank the car, and *nothing*, battery's toast.

So, herein lies my dumb question, I've never jumped an "is", with the trunk mounted battery. What are the caveats involved there? Should I disconnect anything such as the ABS sensors beforehand? My biggest question would be, where should I mount the negative cable on the 'is? IS there any issue sticking it somewhere on the frame? Obviously, it's gonna be kinda hard to reach the cable around to the engine block.

cant you use the positive terminal in the engine bay? I thought that was there for the purpose of jumping...

there's a terminal to jump the car in the engine compartment where the battery tray is, you'll see a little positive red "+" cover, take that off, and you'll see the terminal. you can ground to the nut on the strut tower. That's always how I do it. good luck

uhh, there is no battery tray in the engine compartment on a 91..

I think there is a positive terminal somewhere in there though, but I've never used it. I just took mine out and stuck it on a charger.

If the battery is that dead, it wont matter. Just connect the negative to the negative terminal on the battery. Done that more than a few times with no problem whatsoever.

lol. it's the small little things you forget about that make you kick yourself.

yeah, there is the terminal in the engine bay...and when I was trying to figure out why my ABS light was on when I got my car, the dealer parts guy said something about the ABS relay or something being fried if blah. I really don'kt remember, but do know he said a note along those lines.

Man, I dunno why I blanked on the terminal in the engine bay, Dan, thanks for reminding me.

First time in 7 years I've ever had to jump this car, a pretty good record I'd say.
