It is strong and lighter because it is solid form.

The 3 piece is built heavier and stronger, in order to keep the strength, the bar is held in double shear with 2 attaching lug points and the load is spread with the large gussets.

This allows for attaching the additional brace, and also allows the pros to weld in the tower attaching portion but still leaves the possibility of removal to gain access to the trunk bulkhead.

It does weigh a bit more and is a whole hell of a lot more difficult to make.

    EDIT:

PS, Eric... NO offence but... We know what we're doing.

I'm going to kidnap your welder and chain him up in my garage for the random times I need him.

Well, John Mason himself welded this one...

I think we could clone him but the results could be like one of those B horror films from the 50's.

        TIG is bitchin' isn't it...

          Well...

The car you see it in has no stereo at all...

You couldn't hear it over the engine anyway...

Ever considered running studs in the top of the diff - straight up to plates that could tie into your rear bar some how? Not sure if they'd be too far away or not...

Yes... On Group 4, 5 and 6 cars... But then we just weld everything to the cage.

...You wouldn't want that on the street. There is such a thing as too tight.

when you hit a 12" deep pot hole on the nort bound 101 through LA at 80...

And end up in the south bound lanes still going 80 and heading north...

But backwards, you'll know what I'm talking about

Unless you are running 2,000 HP on straight pipes, my shit would easily drown out whatever the hell is under your hood, I assure you.

So I never heard about that measurement to see if I can make boxes that will fit with your brace. Throw a tape from the brace to the front of the trunk, on the floor, then LMK, OK?

I'll get right on it.... As soon as I get out of my pajamas...crawling around in a trunk yesterday kicked my ass.

Never seen a 12" pothole on the 101, I was rolling thru last night in fact. I'd have smoked it in a hot second had it been there.

I'm working on the install instructions today, I may have to put a minimum IQ requirement on these.

First... I just hand the shit to one of the guys at work and watch what happens... It wasn't pretty. It is not all that complicated to install but it does take three hands.

I'm very pleased with how it's coming though. I had concerns at first about the bracing telegraphing noise from the drive train into the cabin, and that just hasn't been the case. It seems to me that it has actually mitigated some of the noise.

Looks like they will be in production sooner rather than later.
