does anyone else hate how the e30's hood pops up like that?
it looks cool, but makes it so much harder to do stuff under the hood....atleast for me

Depends on the project - for most maintenance work its no big deal, but things like doing the timing belt & water pump do make it a bit of a chore. The last time I tackled that task I just removed the hood - that's a snap.


Great idea on the hood mounted light OP.

90s Suburbans have a light on a reel under the hood with about 6 feet of cable on them.

That's pretty nice, especially since it's an OEM part...

I was just underhood in a skumburban yesterday with one of my techs and talked about retrofitting one of them onto my e30.

6 bolts and a clip and the hood is off. Not a big deal.

just make some alignment marks where the hinges sit on the hood before you take it off, when you put it back on, just line 'em back up.

no, because it takes like 5 minutes to remove the whole hood and have it completely out of your way.
