One time in high school (I pumped gas all the way through high school), this guy rolled up in a brand-new Viper GTS coupe.

I just handed him the nozzle.

Re: Gas monkeys, just about anyone can get that job...

[quote="Jordan"]Here is wonderful Oregon the residents are deemed unable to pump their own gas, so gas is taxed and "gas station attendants" are hired to pump gas for you.

Every single time I pull into a gas station to fuel up I end up being forced into a conversation with one of these mindless gas monkeys. Most are high school kids, that know as much about cars as you can learn watching F&F. Once in a great while, one of them does actually know what he is looking at it (typically older guys) and gives me props for a unique car (which I gladly accept) however....

where the hell is Corvallis anyway?

                    hahahahha that one is great
Heh, I get those every week when I'm at the local hang-out spot w/my friends.

"Is that a SUICIDE HOOD?! HOLY $&%@!!!"
Man, I think every E30 owner gets that. I get that all the time.
What the crap is a SUICIDE HOOD??? I have NO idea what this strand of posts is about! lol

As far as the monkey attendents, I would be out of the car, standing by the tank, waiting for them, arms crossed. While they were filling....I would be inches away, breathing down there neck...there is NO law that says you have to stay in the car and hope they don't hurt it. That way, shoudl thier be a problem, I was there to see it, first hand, AND then if no problems arose, I could thank them and be on my merry way!

BUt what the crap is a Suicide hood and why do we as e30 owners get it all the time. Mine is a 4 door. maybe it isn't applicable???

                    :)

"Suicide" doors are the common name for reverse hinged doors... doors that open "backwards." E30 hoods are hinged at the front, wheras most cars nowadays are hinged at the rear. Hence the "suicide" hood reference.

"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."

                        yah that gas law sucks...

stupid people are kinda stupid... and they piss me off

but there was this one guy with a '91 325iS that talked to me after work for about an hour while we compared our cars... and people like that are awesome... YAY for E30 owners!
The best part was going to have my car inspected and watching the hillbilly mechanic struggle for a good 10 minutes trying to figure out which way the hood opened. Classic. :)
OOOOOOH!!!!! THE HOOD!!! What the hell. LMAO... People think that is weird???
I went to a mechanic once, (he turned out to be a good one for little stuff) I was over heating and was praying it was a stuck thermostat, (it was) BUT I went to this one guy that was recommended to me, he turned out to be about 100 years old, litterally, and as cute as could be...came up to my car, I popped the hood, he was like "OOH, I forgot they did that" THEN, heres the kicker, said "I see what your problem is!! You are out of antifreeze!!!" Very proud of himself. I said, "Uh, Howard, that is the washer Fluid, the coolant is over here."

I was worried, but left it with him, he had excellent references. He is a funny, funny old man. Luckly he works with his son!

Only time I've had the hood be an issue at a local podunk inspection was when I popped the hood for Billy Ray, and he exclamed "Whoah, that opens like mah vette!"

                              Thought that was kinda cool.

What about reverse? Anyone ever watch a mechanic try to get a bimmer in reverse. It's a funny sight.
