You want me to drop off my 93 E30 325i Cabrio and see if you can contrive a rear chassis brace for the zillion Cabrios out there?? You could test the car prior to install of ALL the braces and test it afterwards and generate gobs of happy Cab buyers. Test-mule volunteer here??? Note, I just changed my home location etc: I'm in California now. It'd be a fun drive down the Coast with the top down and the heater on...

We do make a front strut brace for the 325ix.

I'm Martin I work here with Tim etc. I'm a Technician here at the Dealer.

We were interested in seeing hoe much flex was happening between the rear control arm bushing mounts because it was stated that this brace was of no use by some.

What I did was to drill and tap small screw holes in the brackets and made a piece of flat steel with a hole on one side and a slot on the other. we attached the flat steel to the small screws on the brackets tightened the hole side and just snugged the slot side and marked the slot and screw head with paint.

We drove the car over Mulholland to PCH and back.

On either side of the screw head it had rubbed off almost 1/8 inch of the paint (a total of 1/4 inch of movement).

We painted it again and drove the car for a day with the same results.

Our conclusion is that this bar is a useful addition to the e30 and the debate here at the shop is settled.

What kind of e30 was this on?

Simple elegant...

And apparently fairly accurate...

Way back when we used dental floss and slip knots... Now we use cameras, laser and radioactive paint...

We observed 6 to 8 mm of lateral compliance between the LCABS and quite a bit in a "sea saw" on the vertical between them as well.
